Michael Schumacher helped the Schuberth company develop the first lightweight carbon-fibre helmets that are now commonly used throughout motorsport. Ironically this technology helped save Felipe Massa from severe head injuries when hit by flying debris in practice for the Austrian GP in 2009, an episode which subsequently prompted Michael's F1 comeback.
