Mounted on the base of the wreath, a tri-part scroll inscribed “Royal Lancaster Regt.” with supplementary scroll below “1st Volunteer Battalion” . Three loops to reverse. Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and rope edged strap “Herefordshire Militia”, the black velvet centre with lion passant gardant, in the dexter paw a sword . Three loops to reverse. VGC HQ Hereford. In 1881 became 4th Battalion The King’s (Shropshire Light Infantry). This is one of three recorded patterns for this regiment during this short period.

To the centre, ‘108’ on crimson velvet within a strap ‘Madras Infantry’. Mounted on the base , a bi-part scroll “Central India”. Three loops to reverse. VGC Became 2nd Bn. Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers on Friday 1st July, 1881. During the period this plate was worn, the regiment was commanded by Lt.Col. Henry Ernest Thesiger Williams; succeeded by Lt.Col. Henry Lock in June 1880. Both were given rank of Hon. Major-General.

Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter; the crimson velvet centre bearing silver Prince of Wales’s plumes, with gilt coronet, over two maple leaves with scroll below inscribed “Central India”. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver tri-part scroll inscribed “Prince of Wales’s Leinster Regiment”. Three loops to reverse. VGC (KK 283) Following the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922, the regimental Colours were received by HM King George V on 12th June at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle; formal disbandment followed on 31st July, 1922.

Badge. Cossipore Artillery Volunteers helmet plate. A fine and extremely rare die struck silvered example. Within an oval laurel wreath, a flaming grenade resting on a gun, the flames extending above the wreath. On the wreath, a tri-part scroll inscribed “Cossipore Artillery Voluntrs”. Two loops to reverse. VGC Cossipore Artillery Volunteers raised in 1884; became part of the Bengal Artillery in 1925.

14th Middlesex (Inns of Court) Victorian OR’s Home Service Pattern Grey Cloth Helmet circa 1880-1901. A good example with leather edging, blackened brass crosspiece, spike, chinchain and rosettes. Maltese cross blackened regimental helmet plate with central strung bugle. The interior with leather sweatband bearing owner initials ‘F.J.W.I., F.Co.’. VGC Raised as 23rd Middlesex in 1859 and renumbered 14th Middlesex in 1880.
Royal Berkshire Home Service Pattern Blue Cloth Helmet circa 1902-14. A good example by Holt & Son, Piccadilly with gilt peak trim, crosspiece, spike, spine, chinchain and rosettes. Post 1902 universal plate with Oak and Stag on crimson velvet ground and scroll ‘Royal Berkshire Regiment’. The interior with leather sweatband missing silk edging. Evidence of prior Victorian plate. Paper label ‘Harvey R. Berks’. GC Richard P. Harvey served from 25/8/1891 as a Lieutenant, promoted Captain 9th March 1904.

Royal Military College Sandhurst Victorian Gentleman Cadet’s 1878 Blue Cloth Home Service Helmet A fine example of Officer’s quality but with leather trim, gilt crosspiece, spike, chinchain and rosettes. Universal plate with central VR and motto “Nec Aspera Terrent’ on a red and blue enamel ground, The interior with leather sweatband silk edging, partially detached. Paper label ‘Barton, Esq’. VGC Metal furniture re-gilded.
Northamptonshire Regiment Attributed Home Service Pattern Helmet Tin. This metal specially shaped tin with painted name to the front “N.H.V. Cogill Northamptonshire Regt”. Some service rusting otherwise GC. Lieutenant Noel Hugh Vernon Cogill is confirmed as serving with the 1st Bn Northamptonshire Regiment.
French 19th Century Cuirassier’s Officer’s Helmet. A good example of an Officer’s helmet. The skull and peaks are of fire gilt. Surmounting the crown, a gilt metal comb, to each side floral leaf decoration. The front is with a Medusa’s head, below this a flaming grenade. The comb is surmounted, by a short black horse hair tuft plume in gilt holder, the rear of the helmet with a black horse hair tail. To the left side a gilt metal plume holder (One screw post absent) and two large gilt circular boss supports an inter linked , metal backed chin scales. The interior retains part of its original leather sweatband. Gilt remains bright, some age wear GC
