VGC (KK 1118) White Rose of York granted by General Order, R.Marines 31 of 1902 for their attendance on HRH The Duke of York (late George V) on his voyage to the Colonies in 1901.

Three replcement loops to reverse. otherwise VGC Uniquely this unit’s helmet plates, both Officer’s and OR’s, sometimes had a voided section between the crown and star.

Crowned star mounted with laurel sprays and Garter, the crimson velvet centre with silver crowned Harp within shamrock sprays. Mounted on the base of the laurel, a silver scroll ‘The Royal Irish’. Within a circular wreath surmounted by an antelope, a circlet inscribed ‘Transvaal Light Infantry’; strung bugle to centre set on a rich blue enamel ground. Beneath the wreath, a bi-part scroll inscribed ‘Tam Marti Quam Mercrio’ (As Much for Mars as for Mercury). Stout pagri pin to reverse (actual pin a replacement). VGC. (Owen 645) Raised in 1903 and absorbed into the Witwatersrand Rifles in 1907.

Shropshire Imperial Yeomanry helmet plate circa 1901-08. A good scarce example worn on the 1871 pattern helmet. Mounted on a brass crowned rococo shield, a white metal hobnail star bearing oval brass strap ‘Shropshire Imperial Yeomanry’ with three leopard heads to the lined centre. Three screw posts to reverse. VGC This pattern of helmet was introduced to the regiment in 1872. Regiment assumed the title Shropshire Imperial Yeomanry 17th April, 1901; redesignated Shropshire Yeomanry 1st April, 1908.
Prince Albert’s Own Leicestershire Yeomanry Cavalry Victorian Officer’s helmet plate circa 1853-73 . A good scarce die-stamped silvered example worn on the black leather helmet. Crowned star with squared points resting on a tri-part scroll ‘Prince Albert’s Own’; mounted to the centre in a laurel and oak wreath, ‘LYC’ on a lined ground. Three screw posts to reverse. VGC This pattern of helmet was introduced to the regiment circa 1853, it was replace by the busby in 1873.

Elongated brass backing star mounted with nickel crowned oval Garter resting on bi-part scroll “2nd County of London”; applied brass “2” to centre and “IY” below the Garter. Three screw posts and a pair of blades to reverse. GC (KK 1519) Raised as 2nd County of London Imperial Yeomanry, granted additional title “Westminster Dragoons” in 1903.This is the actual piece photographed as No. 1519 in “Head-dress Badges of the British Army”.

Facetted silver twelve pointed star mounted with gilt pierced Garter on a rich blue enamel ground. To the centre, a silver VR cypher set on a translucent red enamel ground. King’s Own Norfolk Imperial Yeomanry Edwardian Officer’s helmet plate circa 1905-10. A fine scarce die-stamped example. Gilt star resting in laurel sprays mounted with silver crown above ERVII cypher over a tri-part title scroll inscribed ‘King’s Own Norfolk Impl Yeomy’. For screw posts to reverse. Left hand laurel spray repaired otherwise VGC. Helmet was introduced to the regiment in 1905 on the instruction of Col Barcley. In May of that year Hawkes supplied the first 22 Officers helmets and 425 Other Ranks. This pattern was worn until 1914.

Three original screw posts to reverse (all shortened). GC Hussar pattern uniform adopted in 1871.
