A rare Victorian Scottish 1st Border Mounted Rifle Volunteer Corps headdress group comprising a Home Service Pattern helmet, a busby, "pill box" forage cap and Torrin cap, with catalogue extract stating the group was originally the property of J S Johnston, a farmer at Crailing Hall and trooper in the unit, together with related research documents.
