A good Vic officer's blue cloth spiked helmet of the 2nd Aberdeenshire Rifle Vols, silver plated top mount and spike, peak binding, ear rosettes and velvet backed chinchain, HP with St Andrew and cross on scarlet cloth to centre, title circle "2nd Aberdeenshire R.V", leather with silk lining, with gilt on scarlet leather label of "Steele & Co, Outfitters, 22 Union Street, Aberdeen"; in tin case (some wear and dents). VGC, a crisp example Plate Note: Written on lining leather is "k" and "Lieut Mair B. Co LARV..." remainder illegible, Thomas Mair is shown in the Army List for July 1871 as Lieutenant, 6th (Ellon) Corps, 2nd Admin Bn. An Edwardian walking stick, of ebony with horn handle with gilt foliate scroll-embossed mounts, the broad band engraved with inscription dated 1908; another walking stick of plain wood with white metal handle in the form of a gannett's head with an apple(?) in it's beak; a walking cane of simulated bamboo with cut glass bun-shaped top with embossed metal band; and another of malacca with leather-covered grip, and bronzed classical helmet top. WW1 French Infantry Adrian Pattern Steel Helmet, retaining much of the original horizon blue paint finish and flaming grenade Infantry badge to the front. Helmet is complete with its original liner but this is loose. No chinstrap present. Accompanied by another French Adrian pattern helmet with a khaki overpaint finish, for colonial troops. No badge to the front of the helmet. Original leather chinstrap and leather liner is present. Both helmets are in untouched as found condition. (2 items)
