1201-1233 AD. Class J. Obv: profile bust with cresent left and star right with +BOAIIVNDVS legend. Rev: cross with crescent in first quarter and +AITIOCHIII legend. Phillips, Marcus, The 'Roupen' Hoard of Helmet Pennies of Antioch, NC 2005, p.264, no.323 (same dies). 0.62 grams. With dealer ticket. [No Reserve]. Good fine.
10th-12th century AD. A bronze figurine of a standing male modelled in the round with loop above the head; conical headgear and oversized shoulders suggesting a helmet and armour. 4.06 grams, 38mm (1 1/2). Property of an American collector; acquired 1980-2000. [No Reserve]. Fine condition, one leg absent.
1st-16th century AD. A mixed group of bronze artefacts of various dates including a group of Roman bow brooches, a helmet suspender, a scabbard chape, keys, a thimble, furniture and other fittings. 522 grams, 18-51 mm (3/4 - 2). Found on various sites in Suffolk, UK. [77, No Reserve]. Fine condition.
dating: 1892 provenance: Paris, 'Antiquité Moyen Age - Renaissance - Tome Sixieme', Paris 1892, text in French; big format edition, front page with embossed helmet, introduction by Eugène Müntz of 51 pages, text 'Armes et Armures' by J. B. Giraud of 83 pages with some illustration, 104 pages of arms description with illustrations, 57 plates (missing pages 28 and 35). In four or single sheets without binding. Easy to bound. Rare work of one of the world's most beautiful arms collections. height 50.5 cm.
dating: late 16th Century provenance: Italy, Sharp, hammered iron, one-piece skull, ribbed in the centerline with tip towards the back of the edges; brim, tips damaged, grooved and hemmed border. All the surface engraved with rectangles and bands decorated with arms, armor, drums and other on the dark, grained background, brim with flowers. Round of rivets, some are missing. Antique restoration on one side, most likely from the time of use. Scarce and nice helmet with beautiful decoration. height 28 cm.
dating: circa 1600 provenance: North Italy, One-piece skull, provided with high comb in the centerline with twisted border, adorned with outlines. Sharp brim, ribbed in the centerline, with recessed margin and twisted, file-roped border. Brass rivets with roundish head. Nape-guard on the back, strongly curved and sharp, in one piece with skull, decorated en suite with the brim. Mobile cheek-pieces. Comb engraved with cartouches featuring birds and dragons between floral motifs, lateral parts with bands and masks between floral and geometrical motifs, cheek-pieces with medallions featuring man and woman busts. One the left side, on the back, a plume-holder engraved with fish-bone. Old restorations at the tips and back comb. Beautiful helmet of elegant shape. height 29.5 cm.
dating: circa 1700 provenance: Persia, Curved, single-and false-edged blade, in damask, with double groove, first part of the right side bears two cartouches with inscriptions in Arabic and remains of gilding, above the golden chivalry coat-of-arms with helmet and armed arm of scimitar over the circle that includes three crosses, letters 'S L P K' in the angles, all in gold; on the other side the Emperor Ferdinand I of Hapsburg motto 'Pereat Mundus et fiat Justitia' (Let justice be done, though the world perish) in gold and among two symbols (most likely of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem), golden floral decorations above the back. Elegant, iron hilt with cross-shaped quillon and angled pommel, completely engraved with animals and floral motifs with golden frames. Wooden scabbard covered with ray skin with iron mounts engraved and gilded en suite. Two suspension rings. length 91 cm.
A German Third Reich Kriegsmarine Officer's dagger, the 25cm etched double fullered blade stamped to the Ricasso WKC with Knights helmet emblem, having a fouled anchor crossguard with press stud, white wirebound celluloid grip and gilded brass eagle and swastika pommel, with silver bullion portepee, housed in an engraved brass sheath with oak leaf bandings and suspension loops, the black fabric hanging straps with pressed brass lions head buckles, 42cm.
A Napoleonic Court sword, having a triform blade (tip missing) gilt brass hilt with eagle emblem and chequered grip with helmet pommel, 80cm, together with a 19th century Officer's sword, stamped to the forte E.
