WW1 British Steel Combat Helmet, good example of a combat worn 2nd pattern Brodie helmet with the covering to the shell brim. Helmet retains much of its original khaki paint finish. Interior of the helmet retains the original oilskin liner and brown leather chinstrap, although this has split in two. Brodie stamp to the underside of the liner. Some dents and scuffs to the exterior of the shell and obvious signs of wear. To the top of the helmet appears to be remains of some painted details but these are not clear. Overall a good untouched example.

WW1 British 1917 Dated Foreign Service Wolseley Helmet, very nice example of the standard khaki cloth covered cork foreign service helmet as worn by British troops serving in Salonika and the Middle East during WW1. The helmet has a thick central folded pagri. Thin brown leather chinstrap which is stamped “THOMAS SON & Co 1917”. Interior with green cloth covering and leather sweatband with cork spacers behind. Overall very good condition.

Scarce Immediate Post WW1 Tank Corps / Royal Tank Corps Foreign Service Helmet, good example of an early wolseley helmet in khaki covered cork. Thick padded pagri to the centre of the helmet and find regimental pagri flash in the form of the regimental colours and embroidered “2” to the centre for the 2nd battalion. Green cloth covering to the interior brim section. Leather sweatband with punched retailers / makers details. Remains of an ink stamp to the interior of the helmet. Some service wear and light spotting to the rear peak but otherwise a good example.

WW1 French Artillery Adrian Pattern Steel Combat Helmet, good example of a standard M-15 Adrian pattern combat helmet retaining much of its original light horizon blue paint finish to the exterior and interior of the shell. Helmer with crossed artillery cannon barrels badge to the centre and comb top. Brass veterans plaque fitted to the front peak. Interior retains the original black leather liner system. Underside of the front peak scratched with original owners name “G. BERGE”. Some dents and rusting to the exterior but still a good example.

WW1 French Infantry Adrian Pattern Steel Combat Helmet, good example of a standard M-15 Adrian pattern combat helmet with dark horizon blue paint finish to the exterior and interior of the shell. Fitted with a brass based French Infantry helmet badge, the brass finish showing through the horizon blue paint. Brass veterans plaque fitted to the front peak. Helmet interior has light tan leather liner system which shows some wear and is dry in places. One stud fitting missing from the top comb, some small dents and light rusting to certain parts of the shell but otherwise a good example.

Great War Souvenired Adrian Pattern Helmet of the American Field Service, an interesting Adrian helmet shell which has a camouflage paint scheme to the exterior, the helmet has been extensively painted by the original owner with places he has served during WW1 including Vedun, Liverpool, London and Paris. The front peak is painted “BELGIUM and FRANCE”. To the front of the helmet is “DMW SS U2” and to the side we assume are the initials of the original owner “W.M.O”. No liner to the interior. The American Field Service were mostly responsible for driving ambulances and medical vehicles before the USA entered the war. The volunteers arrive across the Atlantic in Liverpool and then proceeded to France & Belgium from the UK.

WW2 British Home Front “Sunblem Battery” Factory Workers Steel Helmet, blue / grey painted British steel helmet with the three drill holes to the brim, indicating not suitable for front line service. Helmer has a small oval decal to the centre. Complete with its webbing chinstrap. Interior with liner system which is dated 1940. Some wear but generally still in good condition.

WW2 British Land Forces South East Asia Bombay Bowler Pattern Pith Helmet, fine khaki covered example with central 10 fold cloth pagri and printed formation sign to the side. Complete with its leather chinstrap and leather central top strap. Attached to the helmet is a pair of sun goggles. Interior with leather sweatband and red cloth lining. Helmet shows some service wear and light staining, but generally a good example.

Scarce Early Pattern British Tankers Helmet, blackened cloth covered cork helmet with large upturned padded protection piece. Interior has the original liner system with the leather sweatband being gilt tooled “THE GROSS TANK HELMET” and manufactures details “HELMETS LTD WHEATHAMPSTEAD”. War department broad arrow stamp underneath the sweatband. Very good overall condition.

This example is painted in army khaki finish as opposed to the more common black for Civil Defence. Complete with the original liner system which is dated 1940. WW2 British Senior Wardens Steel Helmet with Half Gas Cape, fine example of a British Home Front Wardens steel helmet with white paint finish, stencilled “W” to the centre of both sides and single rank diamond above the W. The helmet brim is fitted with a half gas cape cover which has slightly congealed and come away at one section of the brim. The helmet is complete with its original 1940 dated liner and webbing chinstrap. Liner slightly loose but otherwise a good example.

WW2 British Home Front Auxiliary Fire Service / National Fire Service Helmet, interesting example with a dark khaki paint finish to the shell with clear outline of where the original AFS stencilled lettering was once present. To the peak is a painted National Fire Service district number “29” which is for Preston, Lancashire. Helmet is complete with its original 1939 liner system made by VERO. Also complete with the webbing chinstrap. Overall a good example worn by a fireman who served in both forms of the service.

WW2 Free French Naval Sun Helmet, interesting example of a British made tropical cloth covered sun helmet with brass French naval anchor badge to the centre. Interior with leather sweatband and leather chinstrap. The Free French forces were issued with British Military uniform and adapted it with French insignia etc. The Free French marine forces were heavily involved in actions off the coast of North Africa and in French Algeria.

WW2 American Fixed Bale M1 Steel Combat Helmet, being a standard model M1 shell with split to the aluminium front seam. Helmer shell has been re-painted in a rough textured paint finish and a divisional badge of the 29th Infantry division painted to the front. Camouflage net also fitted to the helmet. The shell has fixed chinstrap bales to the shell and green webbing strap with metal clips. Helmet is complete with its separate liner system which is stamped to the bottom “US 32”, we believe the liner to be of post WW2 origin. Overall this is ideal as a display piece or for a reenactor.

Ideal for display or for a reenactor.

Rare WW2 South African Air Force Sun Helmet, being a East of Malta style flying helmet without the ear flaps. Khaki cloth covered cork body with central folded pagri having brass South African Air Force badge to the front and sky blue / grey cloth rectangular pagri badge to the side. Brown leather chinstrap fitted over the brim. Helmet interior with brown leather sweatband. Various ink stampings to the interior of the helmet and inked name of the original owner “F/SGT LAWRENCE”. Helmet shows some wear and slightly sunk to the top.

Egypt & Sudan Campaign Medal Pair “D” Battery 1st Brigade Royal Artillery, group consists of Egypt and Sudan medal with single clasp Tel El Kebir awarded to “14135 GUNR C BEEL D/1” and bronze Khedives star for 1882. The medals have been mounted into a glazed frame along with a other ranks Victorian Royal Artillery helmet plate and a brass plaque with recipients details. The medal roll shows 14135 Gunner D C Bell serving with D battery 1st Brigade Royal Artillery who is entitled to this combination and bar. We have not removed the medals from the frame and inspected, sold as seen.

Imperial German Regiment Garde du Corps Officers Helmet Plate, fine silvered rayed star backing plate with around the edge “MIT.GOTT.FUR.KONIG.UND.VATERLAND.1860”. Centre having white enamel backing and pierced in gilt motto “SUUM CUIQUE” with laurel spray and very centre black enamel Prussian eagle. Reverse with two screw post fittings. Very good condition overall.

Imperial German Prussian Reserve Officers Pickelhaube, interesting example of a officers / senior NCO’s pickelhaube constructed with a fibre body and mounted with a short NCO’s style spike on circular spike base with brass fixing stars. Prussian reserve pattern helmet plate without motto, and the silver reserve cross has been mounted to the side of the helmet, covered by the scaled chinstrap. Officers pattern Reichs and Prussian state cockades and brass scaled chinstraps. Interior of the helmet has the original leather sweatband and green cloth lining. Interior of the shell with a blue felt covering which has a 1914 dated paper label attached. Green covering to the underside of the front peak and red covering to the underside of the rear peak. Some light wear, crazing to the shell and dulling of the brass mounts but otherwise an interesting example with the unexplained movement of the reserve cross.

WW1 German Wartime Produced Officers Pickelhaube, good example of a wartime production officers pickelhaube for the state of Prussia. The helmet retains the original officers Prussian helmet plate which retains nearly all of its original gilt finish. Gilt front trim, rear spine and spike base securing stars. The scaled chinstraps, spike base and officers spike are all made from the later zinc metal and the original gilt wash finish has worn away leaving the base metal exposed, this is often the case with wartime produced helmets. Officers Reichs and Prussian state cockades still present. Helmet retains the original officers tan leather sweatband and artificial silk lining to the interior. The helmet is contained in its original leather storage case with leather securing straps. Overall a very good example of an original wartime produced helmet.

Prussian Model 1894 Pickelhaube of Garde Dragooner Regiment Nr 1 (Queen Victoria of Great Britain and Ireland), fine example for an enlisted ranks with large other ranks pattern helmet plate to the front having white metal garde star burst to the chest. Leather backed domed brass scale chinstraps leading to fixing posts, no cockades present. Squared dip front peak which is standard for Dragoon helmets, other ranks cruciform brass spike cross piece and short spike, rear spine with two fixing pins, again typical for Dragoon helmets. Interior of the helmet retains the original other ranks leather liner. Screw post fittings to the reverse of the plate with brass washers in place. Interior of the shell, behind the plate is deeply struck “LG 15”. Rear peak stamped “56”. Some polishing to the exterior fittings but overall a nice example. Old ink written collectors label attached to the chinscales.

WW1 German Prussian Other Ranks Pickelhaube, being a standard leather bodied enlisted mans helmet with brass Prussian helmet plate, brass front trim, brass rear spine, circular spike base with domed rivets and other ranks pattern spike. Original other ranks pattern state and reichs cockades, possibly re-painted at one time and a replacement leather chinstrap. Interior of the helmet retains the original leather liner system and leather wedges behind the front plate. Some expected service wear to the liner and stitching loose to one side of the rear peak but otherwise a good untouched example.

WW1 German Prussian Other Ranks Pickelhaube, being a standard leather bodied enlisted mans helmet with brass Prussian helmet plate, brass front trim, circular spike base with domed rivets and other ranks pattern spike. Helmet has brass rear spine piece and cockade / chinstrap mounts. Complete with original other ranks Reichs and Prussian state cockades and a brown leather chinstrap, probably a later replacement. The helmet interior retains most of its original leather liner, however this is well worn and has lost some of the tongues towards the rear section. Some crazing to the shell. The underside of the front trim is stamped “CLEMEN”.

WW1 German Prussian M-15 Regimentally Marked Pickelhaube, good example of a standard M-15 pattern Prussian pickelhaube with the leather body shell having grey metal fittings in the form of other ranks Prussian front plate, peak trim, circular spike base with domed rivets and removable spike, rear spine. Helmet is fitted with original other ranks reichs and Prussian state cockades and an original leather chinstrap. Helmet interior has the original leather liner and the rear peak is stamped with regimental markings for Infanterir-Regiment Nr 55 (J.R.55) 6th Westphalian regiment. Peak is also stamped with army group “B. L A. VII”. Original owners name pencilled to the underside of the front peak. Some stitching fault to the front peak making it loose but otherwise a very good example with the bonus of being regimentally marked. This helmet would have been worn by a private serving in either the 1st or 2nd battalion as the 3rd battalion wore the state cockade of Lippe as opposed to Prussia.

WW1 1915 Jager Zu Pferde Enlisted Ranks Pickelhaube / Helmet, blued steel body helmet with the regulations field grey other ranks helmet plate to the centre. M-15 pattern removable grey metal spike and cross base. Leather enlisted ranks chinstrap with the earlier large pattern Reichs and Prussian state cockades. Rear lobster tail peak with plane rivets. Green painted finish to the underside of the peak and blackened finish to the underside of the rear peak. Helmet is complete with its original leather liner. Makers plate to the interior crown of the helmet for “Herm Weissenburger &Co Cannstatt”, makers details slightly obscured due to the rivets for the spike cross base. Overall the helmet remains in very good condition showing just light wear.

Interior of the helmet retains the original leather liner system and remains of ink stampings to the rear peak. Generally good condition.

Brass front trim, rear spine without vent and circular base with plain domed rivets and other ranks ball top. Original other ranks pattern Reichs and Baden state cockades with leather chinstrap. Helmet is complete with its original leather liner to the interior. Paper label to the inside with the original owners name, rank and regiment. The rear peak is stamped “3. B.F.A.R. 50 1903”. Some polishing to the exterior fittings but otherwise a good example.

WW1 German M-16 Steel Combat Helmet, good untouched example retaining much of its original field grey / green paint finish to the exterior and interior of the shell. The interior of the helmet retains the original leather liner band and the three brown leather liner pads. Fitted to the helmet is a black leather chinstrap with subdued brass fittings. Helmer has an old wire hanging strap attached to it. Dusty and uncleaned. Shell stamping is not clear, looks like “-J62”.

Imperial German M-16 Steel Combat Helmet, good untouched example of a standard M-16 steel combat helmet which has a dark field combat paint finish to the exterior and interior of the shell. Helmet has fitted over the brim of the helmet an original leather chinstrap which has Berlin makers stamp and 1917 date, the strap is quite tightly fitted to the securing posts so we have not removed to see the shell makers stamp. The helmet is fitted with leather liner band and three leather liner pads. The shell dome is stamped “B I 2 0 2”. Good untouched example.

Imperial German M-17 Steel Combat Helmet, good untouched example retaining much of its original field grey / green paint finish to the exterior and interior of the shell. Interior retains the original steel liner band and two of the three leather liner pads, one being very worn and damaged. Some original writing to the interior rear skirt. Shell is stamped “-I 64” and the dome is stamped “”R 1 5 3 7”. Good untouched example.

Imperial German M-17 Camouflaged Steel Combat Helmet, fine example of a standard M-17 steel combat helmet which has a camouflaged finish to the exterior in form of a bright green, ochre and dark green with black separation lines. Helmet interior with metal liner band and three white leather liner pads. One chinstrap fitting attached to the interior lug. Shell is stamped “Si 66” and “Bi 8 1 1” to the dome. Good example with a bright camouflage finish.

Imperial German M-17 Camouflaged Steel Combat Helmet, fine example of a standard M-17 steel combat helmet which has a bright patch work pattern camouflage paint finish in the usual green’s, browns and ochre colours with black separation lines. Interior of the shell is stamped “BF 64”. Original metal liner band with the three white leather liner pads still present. Helmet has a black leather pickelhaube chinstrap attached to the chinstrap lugs, detached at the end. Old hanging wire is attached to the helmet. Good untouched example.

Imperial German M-17 Camouflaged Steel Combat Helmet, good untouched example of a Model 1916 steel helmet shell with the 1917 pattern steel liner band, known as a M-17. The exterior of the shell has a subdued camouflage paint finish in mostly green’s and ochre colours. Three leather liner pads to the interior. Some pitting and wear to the interior of the shell and some cracking to the liner pads.

Imperial German Cavalry Officers Blue, Gilt and Damascus Presentation Sword, fine example of a grosser hilt pattern officers dress sabre with fine deep relief of oak leaves to the knuckle bow, leading to lion head with inset ruby coloured glass eyes and relief to the back strap. Grip retains the original wire binding. Cavalry pattern crossed swords and lances to the langet with the reverse having knights helmet relief and blank shield. Housed in its original blued steel scabbard with single hanging ring. Leather and bullion portepee attached to the hilt. Curved piped back blade with artificial Damascus decoration, the top section of the blade with double sided blue and gilt panels. One side is etched with the presentation “Fahnrich v.Mosch seinem verhrten Schiffner”. The reverse side of the blade is etched with trophies of arms and foliage. Under the langet is stamped “Damaststahl”. Blade has makers details to the spine of Gustav Schernick, Berlin. Some light areas of spotting near to the tip and slight areas of the blue and gilt loss but generally still a very good example. Blade measures 83cms, overall 100cms.

WW2 German Army Afrika Korps Pith Helmet, good example of a 2nd pattern tropical helmet in olive felt with a darker brown central band and olive leather covering to the brim. Complete with both metal helmet shield decals. Original brown leather chinstrap attached to the helmet. Interior with green lining to the underside of the shell, tan leather lining and red felt interior. Some light service wear and some light mothing to the central band but otherwise a good example.

WW2 German Army M-40 Steel Combat Helmet with Chicken Wire Basket, sleepy untouched example of a standard M-40 pattern combat helmet which retains much of its original dark combat paint finish to both the exterior and interior of the shell. The helmet has the remains of the original decal to the side, approximately 30% present. Over the exterior of the shell is a chicken wire camouflage basket which has worn and damaged in places, these are always difficult to say exactly when fitted to the helmet, but this example certainly shows like it has been fitted to the shell for some considerable time. Interior of the helmet has the original leather liner system, this is quite worn and shows damage in some places. The shell appears to be stamped “ET66” and the rear stamp is not clear. Overall a good untouched example.

German Army M-40 Steel Combat Helmet, untouched example of a single decal German army steel combat helmet. The shell has some pitting and surface rusting. The original army decal has been exposed and coated with a protective substance giving a area of shine around the decal. Interior of the helmet has the original leather liner and leather chinstrap. Shell appears to be stamped “Q 64” and “T 615”. The liner has been oiled and shows some wear etc.

WW2 German M-40 Tropical Camouflaged Steel Combat Helmet, good untouched example of a M-40 pattern steel combat helmet which has a rough textured tropical paint finish to the exterior of the shell, some areas of paint loss which reveals the original field grey paint underneath. No visible decals. Interior of the helmet has the original leather liner system which has become dry and cracked in places. Shell is stamped “Q6-“ and the rear skirt stamped “1334”. Some light pitting to the shell but overall a good untouched example, probably used in Greece, Italy or Southern France.

Luftwaffe Tropical Pattern Sun Helmet, untouched example of the special pattern tropical pith helmet as issued to Luftwaffe troops in Kreta (Crete), North Africa, Italy and Southern France etc. Tropical cloth covered cork body helmet with tan leather trim to the brim. Helmet is complete with its correct brass Luftwaffe eagle which is flying the opposite way to the standard cap insignia and the other side with the metal tri-colour decal shield. Helmet has its light tan leather chinstrap. Interior with the original leather sweatband which is size stamped and maker marked to the underside with date which appears to be 1940. Some crushing to the top and evidence of cork damage but still a hard to find item of tropical headdress.

WW2 German Luftwaffe M-35 Steel Combat Helmet, good untouched example which retains much of its original dark blue paint finish to both the exterior and interior of the shell. Helmet is complete with 2nd pattern Luftwaffe decal and national tri-colour decal. Interior of the helmet retains the original brown leather liner system on aluminium band but no chinstrap. Shell is stamped “SE64” and “4031” to the rear skirt. Helmet shows some wear with a small area of damage to the liner and the decals are worn. Overall a good untouched double decal.

WW2 Luftwaffe M-40 Steel Combat Helmet, good untouched example with much of the original Luftwaffe blue paint finish to the exterior and interior of the shell. Much of the Luftwaffe eagle decal remains to the helmet. Interior retains the original leather liner system and the leather chinstrap. Shell is stamped “Q62” and “DN 137”. Helmer has been fitted with a old hanging wire. Helmet shows some wear but generally a good untouched example.

German Wehrmacht M-40 Pattern Steel Combat Helmet, being a semi relic barn find example which has a dark black paint finish to the exterior and interior of the shell. No decals visible. Helmet is complete with its leather liner and leather chinstrap. The liner is heavily stained and the leather has become dry and shrunk. Shell is stamped “NS62”.
