Badge. York and Lancaster Regiment Victorian Officer’s helmet plate circa 1881-1901. A fine rich gilt example. Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the black velvet centre bearing silver and gilt rose. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver tri-part scroll “The York & Lancaster Regiment”. Three loops to reverse. VGC
Badge. Cossipore Artillery Volunteers helmet plate. A fine and extremely rare die struck silvered example. Within an oval laurel wreath, a flaming grenade resting on a gun, the flames extending above the wreath. On the wreath, a tri-part scroll inscribed “Cossipore Artillery Voluntrs”. Two loops to reverse. VGC Cossipore Artillery Volunteers raised in 1884; became part of the Bengal Artillery in 1925.
Badge. Canadian 9th Bn. Volunteer Militia Rifles Edwardian helmet plate. A good die-stamped blackened brass crowned Maltese cross with fleur de lis between the arms. To the centre, “9” within a circlet “Voltigeurs de Quebec”. Three loops to reverse (top one bent). VGC Organised in 1862. See “Canadian Militia Badges Pre 1914” by Mazeas, HP 92. Provenance. 14th Middlesex (Inns of Court) Victorian OR’s Home Service Pattern Grey Cloth Helmet circa 1880-1901. A good example with leather edging, blackened brass crosspiece, spike, chinchain and rosettes. Maltese cross blackened regimental helmet plate with central strung bugle. The interior with leather sweatband bearing owner initials ‘F.J.W.I., F.Co.’. VGC Raised as 23rd Middlesex in 1859 and renumbered 14th Middlesex in 1880.
Royal Berkshire Home Service Pattern Blue Cloth Helmet circa 1902-14. A good example by Holt & Son, Piccadilly with gilt peak trim, crosspiece, spike, spine, chinchain and rosettes. Post 1902 universal plate with Oak and Stag on crimson velvet ground and scroll ‘Royal Berkshire Regiment’. The interior with leather sweatband missing silk edging. Evidence of prior Victorian plate. Paper label ‘Harvey R. Berks’. GC Richard P. Harvey served from 25/8/1891 as a Lieutenant, promoted Captain 9th March 1904.

Universal plate with central VR and motto “Nec Aspera Terrent’ on a red and blue enamel ground, The interior with leather sweatband silk edging, partially detached. Paper label ‘Barton, Esq’. VGC Metal furniture re-gilded.
Northamptonshire Regiment Attributed Home Service Pattern Helmet Tin. This metal specially shaped tin with painted name to the front “N.H.V. Cogill Northamptonshire Regt”. Some service rusting otherwise GC. Lieutenant Noel Hugh Vernon Cogill is confirmed as serving with the 1st Bn Northamptonshire Regiment.
French 19th Century Cuirassier’s Officer’s Helmet. A good example of an Officer’s helmet. The skull and peaks are of fire gilt. Surmounting the crown, a gilt metal comb, to each side floral leaf decoration. The front is with a Medusa’s head, below this a flaming grenade. The comb is surmounted, by a short black horse hair tuft plume in gilt holder, the rear of the helmet with a black horse hair tail. To the left side a gilt metal plume holder (One screw post absent) and two large gilt circular boss supports an inter linked , metal backed chin scales. The interior retains part of its original leather sweatband. Gilt remains bright, some age wear GC

3rd Lancashire Artillery Volunteers Victorian Officer’s Home Service Helmet. A rare example by Hobson & Sons, Lexington St. Blue cloth helmet complete with white metal peak-edging, backstrip and velvet-backed chin-chain. Officer’s ball ornament in OR's’ pattern cross piece. Silvered Royal Arms plate with gun below scroll inscribed THIRD and above a long scroll bearing the regimental title. Roan leather headband and crimson silk lining with maker’s label. Minor moth and surface damage to blue cloth and peak-linings. Volunteer officers’ cloth helmets frequently incorporated elements of Other Ranks pattern, notably the one-piece crosspiece mount. Sometimes the front plate also, when of the same design, came from the same die as the OR's’ plate, but usually with a superior finish. #11;
Rifle Volunteer Battalion Officer’s Grey Home Service Helmet. A rare post-1912 example by Hawkes & Co, 1 Savile Row. Grey cloth, complete with white metal peak-edging, backstrip and velvet-backed chin-chain. Officer’s spike ornament in OR's’ pattern cross piece. Brown leather head-band and red silk lining with maker’s label. A small label inside band inscribed Campbell (?) 11/36. Plate absent, slight staining to grey cloth, otherwise GC. he Campbell named on the label may possibly be H Campbell, OBE, DSO, TD, who had served with the 13th (County of London) Battalion, the London Regiment (Kensington). In 1929 he became its Honorary Colonel, and may have required this helmet for the 1937 Coronation. This was one of the battalions of the London Regiment which retained a grey Full Dress uniform, including a cloth helmet.
Coldstream Guards Officer’s WW1 Unofficial Helmet. A French “Adrien” pattern steel helmet, complete with regulation comb, seven-tongue headband of fine black leather, and narrow chinstrap. The helmet painted khaki, with original metal badge removed and replaced by a small painted Garter Star of the Coldstream Guards. Chinstrap defective, otherwise GC. This helmet came from the 1992 sale at Pitchford Hall, Shropshire, for centuries the seat of the Grant family and for many years home of Gen. Sir Charles John Cecil Grant, KCB, KCVO, DSO (1877-1950) a prominent Coldstream Guards figure. Educated at Harrow, Grant was commissioned into the Coldstream Guards in 1897 and served throughout the Boer War (wounded) and WW1 (twice wounded). In 1919 he was C.O. 3rd Bn. Coldstream Guards, in 1932 GOC London District and he retired as GOC Scotland in 1940. He was Hon. Col. KSLI 1930-46. Back in 1918 he had been assigned to the French Army’s GHQ as liaison officer between Sir Henry Wilson (CIGS) and Marshal Foch. He very possibly acquired the helmet in this period.
Royal Horse Artillery Attributed Casualty Officer’s RHA Busby and Uniforms, A magnificent and near complete grouping of uniforms worn by Captain G.H. Merriman, who was originally commissioned into the Royal Field Artillery and later transferred to the RHA. He was Killed in Action 1915. Comprising: RHA busby with storage bag in named tin complete with plume in its own container ... bullion cap lines, Royal Horse Artillery Eton style jacket, the front bearing, 18 double loops of gold cord, each mounted with a gilt metal regimental ball button .... gold lace pouch belt complete with black patent leather pouch bearing gun ... overalls with broad red stripe down the seams ... patrol uniform ... ... another undress uniform (open neck) ... mess dress ... frock coat... RA full dress uniform tunic ... gold lace bet complete with slings ... 2 sword belt (one ... spurs ... white gloves ... two bullion sword knots ... gilt RA helmet plate with ball and chain ... gilt and OSD bronze cap badges ... buttons ... fly whisk etc all contained in metal storage trunk. Together with a photograph of Gordon Holland Merriman wearing the RHA tunic and holding his busby. The overall condition is good, with storage wear, please note that the busby with some fur loss and is very defective. Born 10 December 1884 at Hollingford House, Knutsford, Cheshire. Son of Frank Merriman and Mariquita (neé Boyd). Educated at Horris Hill, Winchester College (1898-1902) and Woolwich.#11;1904 -- Obtained commission in Royal Field Artillery. 'Gazetted' Feb 7 1905. April 1911 -- Lieutenant in the British Army, Royal Field Artillery, 84th Battery. Served in India. Lived at a military residence, Belgaum. 1912 -- Transferred to the Royal Horse Artillery. Served in South Africa. August 1914 -- Lieutenant in the British Army, Royal Horse Artillery, J Battery. Served in France. October 1914 -- Promoted Captain. Early 1915 -- Given command of a R.F.A. ammunition column, and later of the 95th Field battery (21st Division). May 12th, 1915, Killed in action.#11;During the Second Battle of Ypres, one of his limbers was ignited by enemy shell-fire. Captain Merriman immediately ordered everyone under cover and ran up to extinguish the fire. He was struck by a shell while so engaged and instantaneously killed
Norwegian Army (WW2 German) Steel Helmet. A very good example of the WW2 German turned edge helmet taken into service by the Norwegian Army after the war. This example with green painted finish and retaining both Norwegian Army decals. The interior with leather lining and chinstrap. The metal liner band with the date 1943. Good clean condition GC.

WW1 British Army B Pattern Brodie Steel Helmet A very good example of the type, retaining original green sand painted finish to the shell, the interior with original oilcloth sweatband the underside with pink brodie stamp and to the crown felt cushion with ring padding. Complete with original brown leather chinstrap. Minor moth to the felt otherwise VGC.
Badge. The Royal Sussex Regiment Victorian Officer’s foreign service helmet plate circa 1881-1901. A very fine gilt example of universal pattern converted from pre 1881 example whilst in service, the black velvet centre with regimental Maltese cross device ornamented in red, blue and green enamels superimposed on Roussillon plume. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver tri-part scroll “The Royal Sussex Regt”. Three screw posts to reverse. Enamel slightly defective and scroll detached one end otherwise VGC.
WW1 1918 RFC / RAF Cowl Pattern Flying Helmet a good example of the light brown chrome leather balaclava multi panel helmet. Side ear flaps with front rolls. Forehead tightening straps and steel buckles. Leather and cord tightening chin strap. Interior with chamois crown and lower section. Bearing ‘WD’ issue stamp and ink name ‘B I Winmill’. Central fur section with some damage and fur loss. Leather remains supple. Minor stitching faults.
Early 19th Century Continental Infantry Officer’s Sword. This example, possibly French, is with a straight single edged blade, with engraved decoration of floral pattern. The hilt with a single bar guard and a shell cross guard, this embossed with crossed flags and a lion. The wooden grip with chequered decoration and this is surmounted by a classical helmet pommel. Now with a professionally made replacement black leather and gilt mounted scabbard. Overall GC some pitting to the blade. slight shrinkage to scabbard.

Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter; mounted on the black velvet centre, in silver, an eight pointed star mounted with roped circle with Prince of Wales’s plumes centrally. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver scroll inscribed “The Cheshire Regiment”. Three loops to reverse. Minor fracture to bottom right side of crown, otherwise VGC.

A Copy of an English Civil War Period Lobster Pot Helmet (Zischagge), the single piece skull with four lame tail with turned edge and domed rivets, bevelled ear or cheek-pieces with four domed rivets, broad pointed peak with turned edge, sliding nasal bar missing but retention screw present.
A vintage brass fireman's helmet, having cross axe plate to front, embossed dragon decoration to the comb, complete with chin strap, with damages (AF) damages to the peak and top part of the comb, plate slightly loose, three screws missing to the comb however still secure, generally good condition, no other signs of significant damage or repair
A Mid 20th Century Bembe Janus Helmet Mask Kalunga. This barrel shaped mask of the Bembe is said to embody forest spirits and was generally hidden away and revealed only to select initiates. It's appearance in the village could range from entertainment to the imposition of fines and the settling of disputes especially if a member of the Alunga association was concerned. It is Janus faced, or doubled, and the entire visage reduced to two enormous eyes with cylindrical pupils framed in star shapes. The piece is made of wood with some remaining pigment, and measures approx. 15 ¼ ins (39 cm) tall with a diameter of 11 ½ ins (29 cm).
A Large Augsberg Silver Mounted Ivory Tankard of fine quality. The ivory body richly carved in relief with a continuous allegorical scene and mounted on a silver foot embossed with face masks spewing scrolls of trailing acanthus entwined in strapwork on a matted ground. The domed lid with similar decoration, a gilt interior and carved ivory surmount in the form of a plumed helmet. 16 ins (41 cms) in height. A Beautiful 19th Century Kuba Kete Helmet Mask. This was collected from a village in Mushenge and owned by one of the elders of the village. The piece is made of wood, glass beads, cowrie shells, metal strips, material and shows faded pigment, it measures approx. 19 ½ ins (49 cm) tall, 11 ½ ins (29 cm) wide and 12 ins (30 cm) deep.
Circle of John Michael Wright (London 1617-1694). A 17th Century Oil on Canvas: Three-quarter length Portrait of a Gentleman in armour with lace cravat and a lavish white silk sash fringed in gold. The subject holding a Field Marshall's baton with a plumed helmet by his side. 43 ins (109 cms) square, set in a black ripple moulded frame 52 ins (132 cms) square.
