2nd Life Guards Officer helmet circa 1902-22. A fine scarce example. Skull of German silver decorated with gilt brass laurel and oak leaf design. Gilt rose pattern ear bosses support a gilt brass leather backed chin chain, gilt metal ornate spine. To front, enamelled helmet plate of regulation pattern. To top of the helmet a gilt and silver fluted spike supports the white horse hair plume, this complete with a plain gilt domed boss. Complete with original silk adjustable lining, now slightly shot. Yorkshire Dragoons Officer's helmet circa 1904. A fine scarce example. Silvered skull, the silver band and backstrap ornamented with rose leaves. Helmet plate comprises Victorian crowned rose leaf sprays mounted with multi pointed silvered hobnail star mounted with a gilt oval Garter resting between two scrolls YORKSHIRE and DRAGOONS, the centre mounted with silvered Rose of the House of York. Silver rose head bosses support a leather backed, silvered chin chain; the plain fluted plume holder supports a white flowing horsehair plume with a rose head boss. Silk lining. 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales) Dragoon Guards Victorian Officer's Albert helmet c1855-71. A fine rare example, the gilded skull with ornate flaming plume holder of gilt metal supporting the white over red horsehair plume with gilt rose boss. To the front, a crowned rococo shield resting in laurel and oak sprays, bearing cut silver star mounted with oval gilt strap inscribed P.C.W. DRAGOON GUARDS; VR Cypher to centre. Both the front and back peaks are ornamented with applied acanthus leaves. Large gilt rose bosses support a leather backed chin chain. The interior with original silk liner, now a little shot. 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards Officer 1871 pattern helmet. A fine scarce example. The gilded skull surmounted by a crosspiece base and four inch high plume socket supporting a replacement white horsehair plume with gilt rose boss. Skull ornamented with a laurel wreath above the front peak and an oak leaf band rising from the edge of the neck piece and terminating under the crosspiece at the top. To the front a cut silver eight pointed star of the Most Illustrious Order of St.Patrick mounted with pierced gilt motto on a light blue enamel ground. To the voided centre, St.Patrick cross in red enamel on a lined silver field. To the centre of the cross, a green enamelled shamrock with three gilt, red enamelled crowns. Gilt rose pattern ear bosses support the black velvet backed chin chain. Red quilted silk lining to the interior. The gilt finish to the skull remains in near parade condition. The forte with maker "Besch & Co Hanover St. London". Quality gilt cast shell guard with armour and stand of arms with lion mask edges. Floral decorated quillon and D shape knuckle bow. Victorian Montgomeryshire Yeomanry Presentation Officers Sword. A superb example of a mid Victorian presentation sword given to Captain Edmond Peel of the Newtown troop. The 36 inch, straight spear point blade with etched decoration depicting St.George and the Dragon, classical ladies and floral decoration. The pierced gilt guard, incorporates a Druid?s head surrounded by floral decoration. This encloses a shagreen grip with a gilt ram's head pommel. The steel scabbard with embossed mounts of a Cavalry helmet and bugle. The steel is engraved with a presentation PRESENTED TO CAPTAIN EDMOND PEEL BY THE MEMBERS OF THE NEWTOWN TROOP OF THE MONTGOMERYSHIRE YEOMANRY CAVALRY IN HONOUR OF THE OCCASION OF THE BIRTH OF A SON AND HEIR 1ST MARCH 1872. The overall condition is near VGC, gilt bright, etching clear. Some age wear to the steel of the scabbard presentation script faint to parts. Intended for decoration of the Katalnaya Gorka or 'Sliding Hill' pavilion near the Oranienbaum Palace outside of St. Petersburg.CONDITIONThe figurine is in good condition. A chip resulting in loss to one of the feathers of Mars' helmet. Inspection under UV light shows retouching to Mar's helmet, a visible repair to the adjoining bases and retouching and repair to the one of the horses proper left leg.

Anglo-Saxon, a bronze buckle, 7th century, in the form of a stylised horse head with blue glass eyes and decoration in the centre of four straight grooves; at the top is a recessed panel which contains three rivets and the pin with an opening for a small strap to pass, 32mm long by 9mm wide. Complete, with an olive green patina £100-£150 --- Provenance: Found at Tewkesbury before the PAS scheme was introduced. Believed to be from a helmet similar to the one found at Sutton Hoo
