A fine and rare Georgian officer’s black leather skulled Tarleton helmet of the Royal Edinburgh Yeomanry. Black bearskin crest and leopard skin turban, silvered mounts comprising thistle side badge, title strips, turban chains and “MLC” (Mid Lothian Cavalry); original linen padded lining, silk rear cushion and feather plume. The whole in exceptionally good condition with minimal signs of wear. A Third Reich M35 single decal steel helmet, with maker’s mark and size “ET62” (Eisenhuttenwerke), serial number 4461, army eagle decal on the left (worn), remains of owner’s name and number inside the rim, correct aluminium headband with square D rings, original leather chinstrap, and M31 pattern liner. GC (most of the external paint missing, remains of the internal paint shows that it was originally Wehrmacht grey/green); with photo copies of research details. £150-250.
A WWII US Mark I steel helmet, with fixed chinstrap loops and webbing chinstrap (worn), removable fibre liner with leather chinstrap, and brown/green twill camouflage cover. GC, some wear consistant with use. The vendor states that this is an early issue Mark I, possibly made by Westinghouse, with first pattern reversible cover of the type not widely used in Europe but more so in the Pacific theatre. A scarce .177" Accles & Shelvoke “Warrior” air pistol, appears to be the first type with no “Clarke’s Patent” or serial number and with semi circular trigger guard, the black grips, which appear to be of pressed horn, have chequered panels and plumed helmet in medallion.
