German M-42 Pattern Steel Combat Helmet with Original Field Made Camouflaged Cover, superb untouched fairly large size M-42 raw edge pattern steel combat helmet which has been fitted with a field made cloth cover. Interior of the helmet has the original leather liner and original leather chinstrap. We have gently removed the cover to find that the helmet is a non-decaled example. The cover has some rust bleeding and some splits towards the lower brim area, due to the raw edge of the shell. The helmet is a real time capsule that just oozes history. Without doubt this cover has been present on this helmet since it was brough home from the battle fields of North West Europe. This helmet was recently discovered in a US veterans footlocker haul along with other souvenirs picked up during the war.
