Es handelt sich wohl dabei um Saturn, der nach der römischen Mythologie seine eigenen Kinder gefressen haben soll. In diesem Bild wird er eindringlich von Athene dazu ermahnt, von seinem Vorhaben abzulassen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Wiedergabe der Bewegtheit der Dargestellten. dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Europe, Smoothbore, two-stage, 17 mm cal barrel, octagonal at the first part and then round (pitting), the base with floral and geometric engravings, remains of a silver sight; frame flat on both sides, engraved with vases and twigs, the tails shaped and engraved with an angel, the upper part with sight and engraved with a face wearing an helmet and with wings; lower hammer. Wooden butt and fore-end, the stock with checkered neck and carved in the lower part with foliage in high relief. Iron mounts and ramrod. Small damages. A strap loop damaged but still present. length 132 cm.
dating: circa 1875 - 1890 provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Round, rifled, 10,4 mm cal. barrel (clean bore, clearly visible rifling), with octagonal base, adjustable rear sight, foresight and clutch for the bayonet; typical Vetterli bolt (working mechanism); wooden stock with iron mounts. The large part of the iron mounts richly engraved with floral motifs, the part behind the bolt with a warrior's head with helmet decorated with a cross. Trigger guard with finger support. Rare. length 110 cm.
