(28 cm.) wide; 2419 grams, 77 oz. tr. Captain Philip Durham (1763-1845) commanded H.M.S. Defiance (74) at the Battle of Trafalgar, where he was wounded, and, as Knight of the Bath, carried a chivalric banner at Nelson’s funeral. His badge for the Military Merit of France was awarded for Durham’s role in reducing Guadeloupe for King Louis XVIII in 1815.
