A late 19th century French cuirassier helmet, brass skull with WM binding to back and front peaks, WM comb embossed with foliage and Medusa head finial, and surmounted by black stand up hair plume, socket holder on left with red feather plume,ear to ear plate embossed with foliage and grenade to centre, brass lion’s head ear bosses (no chinchain), leather headband. A French fireman’s brass helmet c 1900, brass binding to front and back peaks, studs at back, ear to ear HP embossed with trophy and wreath, grenade on shield, and scrolls “Srs Pompiers Villiers S.O”, panelled sides to comb with curled finial, ear roundels and left side plume holder, maker’s name “A Thiery, Paris” above back peak. A scarce 17th century Polish helmet zischagge, the skull constructed of a headband and 12 plates, scalloped along the lower edges and tapering up to the superimposed top plate, peak with reinforced front edge, and neck guard of 3 plates with reinforced outer edges, secured by prominent round headed rivets overall. A fine flintlock gun of royal property, dating: second quarter of the 18th Century, provenance: Bavaria, dating: second quarter of the 18th Century, provenance: Bavaria, Beautiful, Turkish, round, smooth, 20 mm cal. barrel, in fine damask, with rib, base chiselled and finely decorated with silver voter crown held by two little angels over a noble figure with hounds and a battle between them and a wild boar, silver front sight; engraved tang; flintlock, round lock plate with 'CA' monogram under the voter crown, tang finely chiselled with a mask on a golden background, cock decorated with partially gilded floral motifs. Wooden, full stock slightly embossed with gilded brass mounts, counter-plate pierced with a chariot pulled by two lions, trigger guard with a bust featuring a Roman type helmet, butt-plate with a noble figure on horseback. Horn and bone-tipped, wooden ramrod with iron cartridge extractor., length 132 cm.

An elegant set of Khula-khud and sipar, dating: 19th Century, provenance: Indopersia, dating: 19th Century, provenance: Indopersia, The helmet featuring iron skull, with a scarce, peacock-shaped decoration, surmounted by the bird's head on the long, counter-curved neck, all in one piece and with a relieved band at the center, with engravings depicting the wings. Engraved with racemes and gilt decorations. Anthropomorphic sun with gilt decorations at the bacj. The lower band featuring cartouches with Arabic writings, the head of the peacock featuring three open-works to insert the feathers. Chanfrin with central, fixed nosepiece and two plume-holders. Iron mail neck-defense with simple closed rings and fringed border. Small, missing parts at the gilding and at the rings. The shield (45 cm diameter), decorated en suite, of round and convex shape, featuring a relieved, anthropomorphic, partially gilt sun at the center. provided with four studs with festooned base. The surface is richly engraved with partially gilt racemes and depicting warriors, the external part decorated with circles, frames and Arabic writings. The border with brass covering. The back featuring our loops to fix the handles., height elmo circa 60 cm.
An exceptional black-figure Attic amphora 530 – 500 BC; alt. cm 49; Amphora with a distinctive concave neck, flattened shoulder, ovoid body tapering down, echinus foot and three-ribbed ribbon handles attached vertically between the neck and the shoulder. Painted in the black-figure style with white and purple highlights, the neck is decorated with palmettes and lotus flowers, the shoulder with a circle of rays. Beneath the handles are four interwoven tendrils, each of which ends in a palm. Below the central section, which displays figurative scenes, is a meander motif which is in turn above a climbing lotus flower bud motif. A band of rays decorate the foot. The lid, which has a spherical pommel, is decorated with concentric bands and ivy branches on the outer rim.Decoration of the body: Side A) on the left is a warrior armed with a helmet, spear and Boeotian shield depicted throwing himself towards a second warrior on the right, who is also armed with a helmet, spear and circular shield; between the fighters is a kneeling warrior, his head turned to the left, holding a spear and a shield. The scene depicted could be the episode in the Iliad in which Achilles defends Antilochus against Memnon, Side B) thiasus: a bearded Dionysus is depicted at the centre with his head turned to the left, wearing a crown of ivy and a long himation. He extends a kantharos towards a female figure in a mantle standing opposite him; probably Ariadne. Behind the god is a satyr playing a diaulos and a Maenad; the background is filled with vines and bunches of grapes.Museum restoration; Attic black-figure pottery of the end of the 6th century is distinguished by ceramists that favour representations of Homeric hymns and Dionysian scenes painted on medium-sized and large vases (amphora, hydria, krater).PROVENANCE:Private collection, London; acquired on the European art market in the 1980s.Ongoing thermoluminescence analysis report by Oxford Authentication Ltd.
