Lot 815

A rare original WWII Second World War Nazi German Army M35 Stahlhelm steel combat helmet, with camouflage paint scheme. The inside of the shell impressed ' SE64 ' and ' 4436 ' to the rear brim. Retains the original eight-tongue leather liner. Appears to have had two welded repairs to the top and front, although these appear to be from the period. Rare helmet.

The helmet of typical form, in white, with various poppers and original strap. The goggles housed in their original 1940 dated tin. Metal frames, with woollen linings. Supplied with a rare and original pair of folding eye shields / protectors - with remnants of original foam padding to the inside and slip-over eyeshield sections. Rare pairing.

A rare original WWII Second World War local Bristol interest ' economy ' fibre helmet with notation for Bristol Fire Service No. ' 3 '. The helmet of two-panel fibre construction, with steel plates to top. Complete with original liner and leather chin strap. ' BFS ' to front in red and white. Rare helmet. 

Lot 846

An original WWII Second World War Civil Defence / ARP Air Raid Precautions ' Cromwell Protector Helmet '. Made from segments of fibre riveted together - the helmet was the 'economy' version of steel Brodie helmets. This example retaining its original label to interior and size noted a 6 7/8. Complete with liner. 

Lot 849

A rare post-WWI First World War named M23 (1923) pattern French army ' Adrian ' steel combat helmet. Good complete example, including the original liner and ' RF ' badge to front. Pressed from one piece of steel, with double rivets to sides. A soldier's initials can be seen scratched to the underside of the brim, although somewhat illegible. Rare inter-war period helmet - which was very likely used during WW2.

Various straps and buttons still intact including chin strap. Chamois lining and internal wiring still present. Broad arrow mark and serial numbers visible to the right side ear. Good example.

London and Westminster Light Horse Volunteers Officer’s Helmet Badge 1794-1821. A silver circular badge with crown at top, in the centre the Lion of England holding a shield bearing the Garter motto and central ‘GR’ cypher, this surrounded by a Garter inscribed ‘Forward’ and decorated at base with laurel and oak leaves, complete with retaining loops to reverse, top reverse retaining loop broken, otherwise very good condition, scarce £300-£400

Lot 764

Loyal U' Volunteers Leather Helmet Hat Badge c1799-1801. An excavated example in die-struck brass (75 x 46mm), crowned strap, 'Pro Aris Et Focis' with 'LU' in the centre, fasteners lacking, buckle and tip of the strap missing and a tear to the crown, generally fair condition £200-£300 --- Note: There are very few 'U' Volunteer units of this period, namely Ufford (Suffolk), Ulapool and Ulbster. The Hawkes Pattern Book shows an identical badge with details, Die number 4381 and the date for the sinking of the die 16 July 1799. The Ulbster (Caithness) corps was raised 12 June 1799 and as all Volunteer units wanted their distinctive badges/buttons as soon as possible, then is the most likely candidate. Uxbridge did not raise a Volunteer unit until 1803.
