A PAIR OF MEISSEN FIGURE GROUPS EMBLEMATIC OF WAR & WISDOM, the first with standing figure of Mars & instruments of war, & three attendant putti, one dressed as the infant Hercules, the other with figure of Minerva standing beside a globe, with three attendant cherubs, each on mound base with gilt scroll border, 8¼” & 7¾” high; blue crossed swords marks & incised D1 & D2, impressed Nos. 147 & 72 respectively. (Condition: He with restored left hand, blue plume of putto’s helmet restored; She with restored right hand above wrist; cherubs with restoration to one wing, fingers of three hands, & toes of one foot).
An original WWI First World War Imperial German M16 steel combat Stahlhelm helmet. The rim faintly stamped ' BE64 ' (? - largely illegible). Likely repurposed for WWII and painted black - some signs of original paint can be seen underneath. No liner or chin strap present. Provenance - from the same family collection of Lots 430 and was very likely a 'bring back' trophy of war from 2863 Sapper Francis C. Lewis of the Royal Engineers (further details in lot 430).

Interior chamois lining having Tress & Co London tailors label. Some scuffing but otherwise a good example. Style worn by ATA (Air Transport Auxiliary) pilots during WW2.
