The helmet shows service wear and the leather sections are dry and cracking in places. Interior of the helmet has the original leather sweatband. Very scarce helmet which was worn for a very short time.

WW2 1943 British Airborne Forces Paratrooper Helmet with Leather Chinstrap Harness, helmet retains nearly all of its original combat paint finish to the exterior and is fitted with a camouflaged net. Helmet has its original liner which is stamped “BMB 1943” and size stamp 7 1/? Complete with the top rubber pad to the interior and full leather chinstrap harness strap. Helmet shows some signs of service wear but generally is a very good example.

WW2 1944 British Airborne Forces Paratrooper Steel Helmet, very good untouched example of the paratrooper issue steel combat helmet retaining much of its original rough textured combat paint finish. Camouflaged net to the exterior of the helmet. Complete with its original liner system and webbing chinstrap harness. Helmet liner is stamped “BMB 1944” and size marked 7 7/8. Evidence of service wear to the interior with staining and leather cracking to the forehead area. Some areas of the sweatband are now missing.

Outstanding Headdress and Tunic Grouping of a Royal Engineers Officer Serving with the 44th Indian Airborne Division, consisting of 1941 dated officers “Bombay Bowler” foreign service helmet having a wonderful heavily embroidered theatre made pagri badge in the form of white parachute canopy set upon felt colours of the Royal Engineers. Helmet is complete with its original sweatband to the interior; 1942 dated Bush / Slouch cap again with fine quality embroidered theatre made pagri badge in the same style as that on the foreign service helmet. This cap showing much more service wear than the foreign service helmet; Scarce Indian made brimmed jungle cap with worn and faded silk regimental ribbon pagri flash; Jungle issue shirt / tunic which has pinned to the breast pocket a fine quality far east made parachute qualification wing, to each arm printed 44th Indian Airborne Division Pegasus formation signs and slip-on Royal Engineers majors rank slides. Tunic is complete with the original buttons and belt. The set is all housed in the officers original brown leather travel case which contains various items of equipment including his 3rd pattern Fairbairn Sykes (F.S) Commando Knife housed in its original leather scabbard, camouflaged neck scarf, coloured lanyard, officers whistle, webbing waist belts, plus other items. A truly fantastic grouping of items.

Shell has swivel bale fittings. Complete with its fibre lining shell having canvas straps and chin cup. Helmet shows wear but is generally a very good example.

Rare Military Prison Staff Corps 1901-1906 Officers Home Service Helmet, very good example of the blue cloth covered cork home service pattern helmet with fine gilt metal Victorian helmet plate in the form of the Royal Arms, velvet backed linked gilt metal chin scales, rosette side bosses in gilt metal, cross base with rosette mounts and spike fitting. Helmet is complete with its original sweatband and quilted silk padded lining to the interior. Helmet is housed in its original japanned metal storage tin. Some very light moth to the peak area but otherwise an excellent example with all the gilt remaining fresh. Military Prison Staff Corps was formed under Army Order 241 of 1901 and redesignated Military Provost Staff Corps in 1906. These helmets were worn by Governors and Inspectors of Military Prisons.

Helmet is complete with the original leather sweatband and Hobson & Sons makers tab to the top of the interior. Good patina to the white metal fittings. Some very light areas of moth tracking to the cloth of the helmet.

WW2 British Steel Helmet of the General Manager of the Hull Ice Manufacturing Company, black painted standard issue British steel helmet with central thick white band and painted to the front “G.M H.I.M.C” the rear of the helmet painted “G.M”. The helmet is complete with its original liner system and webbing chinstrap. Painted to the interior is the original owners name “S.COOPER”. The Hull Ice Manufacturing Company provided ice to the Hull Trawler Fleet. The company was wound up in 1965. Attribution given by well known collector and author on WW2 British Home Front, Jon Mills.

WW2 British Senior Wardens Helmet for St Pancras, standard pattern British issue steel helmet painted white and with black “W” to each side indicating the helmet was to be worn by a senior Warden. To the front of the helmet below the “W” is transfer decal for St Pancras ARP, this has been well worn but is still visible. Helmet is complete with its original 1939 dated liner and webbing chinstrap. An interesting helmet. The St Pancras and Somers Town district of London was heavily targeted during the Blitz campaign by the Luftwaffe. A senior Warden in this district would have seen a lot of action and would have been heavily responsible in the day to day lives of its residents and compatriots in this area during this time. It is believed that between 7th October 1940 and 6th June 1941 52 high explosive bombs were dropped on this area alone.

WW2 Home Front National Fire Service “Atkinsons Fire Brigade” Steel Helmet, good untouched example retaining much of the original paint finish to the exterior of the helmet, two central red bands and AFS decaled badge to the front. Underneath the AFS badge is painted white rectangular block with black lettering “ATKINSONS F.B”. Helmet is complete with its original liner which is dated 1939. The central interior pad is present but loose. Helmet is complete with its original webbing chinstrap.

Unusual WW2 Home Front Civil Defence Controllers Bakelite Helmet, very unusual example of the war economy helmet produced for the Civil Defence in bakelite which has been marked for a “CONTROLLER” with two white central strips also painted. Helmet is complete with its 1941 dated liner system and webbing chinstrap. Very unusual to find the bakelite helmets marked to a particular branch of the Civil Defence.

Scarce WW2 Home Front Food Decontamination Steel Helmet, standard pattern British steel helmet which was painted yellow and black stencilled “FOOD” to the front. The helmet interior has a apple green style paint. Complete with the original liner system which is dated 1940 and webbing chinstrap. The helmet retains much of the exterior paint finish. The food decontamination unit of the Civil Defence was small and as such its steel helmets are seldom found compared to that of larger departments of the organisation.

Scarce Hanoverian Jager Battalion Nr 10 Officers Shako / Helmet Plate, starburst plate with the centre having painted enamel centre, lower two part scroll with battle honours “PENINSULA, WATERLOO, VENTA DEL POZZO”. One of the two loop fittings remains to the helmet plate. The Prussian Hannoversches Jäger-Batallion Nr. 10 was formed in 1866 when Prussia annexed the Kingdom of Hanover and absorbed their army, though their official date of formation was 1803 as the light infantry of the Hanoverian Army. They traced their history further back to service under the British crown, most notably at the Siege of Gibraltar in 1779-83, then later at Venta Del Pozo in 1812 during the Peninsular Campaign and at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Later as light infantry it had been part of the Hanoverian army that defeated the Prussians at the Battle of Langensalza in 1866. As the new Prussian 10th Jäger Battalion they saw action in the Franco-Prussian War, including the Battles of Mars la Tour and Gravelotte-St. Privat. In 1914 it was garrisoned at Goslar and formed part of the X Army Corps with which it fought during the opening campaign of the First World War on the Western Front. In 1915 they were transferred to the Alpine Corps, seeing action in Italy, Serbia, Romania and again on the Western Front.

WW1 Issue Imperial German Prussian Officers Pickelhaube, fine example leather bodied shell with superb quality Prussian officers gilt metal helmet plate retaining nearly all the original fire gilt wash finish. Officers wartime manufactured scaled chinstraps, circular spike base with officer pattern spike, these fittings have lost the gilt wash finish that would have been originally applied, however due to the quality of the metal the spike base securing stars still have the gilt wash finish. The helmet has officers pattern state and national cockades, gilt front trim and rear spine. Complete with officers leather sweatband and artificial silk lining to the interior. Housed in the original leather storage box.

Fine quality gilt metal officers helmet plate for the state of Bavaria with silvered reserve cross to the centre. Officers scaled leather backed chinstraps and officers pattern state and national cockades. Gilt metal trim to the square dip peak and rear spine strap. Cruciform spike base with gilt metal securing stars present. Bavarian pattern fluted removable spike. Interior of the helmet with leather sweatband and officers cloth lining. Helmet is complete with its original officers field trench cover stamped “DRP” and housed in its original storage box of issue. Overall a very good example of an officers field worn helmet.

Officers gilt brass scaled chinstraps, white metal front trim to the correct square dip peak and white metal rear spine. Cruciform spike base with three of the four gilt securing stars still present. Officers pattern silvered spike. Helmet retains the original officers style leather sweatband and artificial silk lining. Some damage to the helmet plate but otherwise a very nice example of a scarce Imperial German helmet.

Two replaced cockades, one un-painted. Brass cross base with gilt spike having black horse hair parade brush plume. Helmet with leather liner to the interior which shows some cracking. The helmet has been restored in places with some fittings being replacements.

Complete with replaced state and national cockades and leather chinstrap. Helmet is complete with its leather liner and the interior shell is stamped with makers details and 1917 date. Good example overall.

Helmet has other ranks style leather liner and is stamped with the regimental ink stamping for Infantry Regiment 128 “J.R. 128”. The helmet remains in good untouched condition.

Back peak slightly loose, and top slightly sunk from the weight of the fittings on the leather shell but otherwise a good untouched example of a scarce helmet.
