A French porcelain mounted gilt brass clock garniture, circa 1860, in Louis XVI style, the 'Sevres' dial painted to the centre with Cupid and trophy, the Roman chapter reserved on a 'jewelled' bleu de roi gound, eight day movement, striking on a bell, the bow breakfront case cast with classical leafage and beading and inset with 'Sevres' landscape and figural panels on a bleu de roi ground, surmounted by a two-handled urn; the pair of conforming 'Sevres' ovoid urns with domed covers, each painted with a romantic Watteauesque panel within 'jewelled' gilt leafy borders, ram's mask loose ring handles and pineapple finials, on knopped stems and stepped square bases, clock 36cm high, urns 29cm high
* Siaia Savoia-Marchetti S.55X. An historic aeronautical trophy, formerly presented to a crew member, unknown of one of the aircraft taking part in the Rome-Chicago-New York-Rome long-distance navigation flight, led by Air Minister Italo Balbo in 1933, these trophies comprise a gilded sphere with winged fin depicting in plan form the twenty-four aircraft taking part with plaque on cube base, 5 in (13.3 cm) high, together with the companion copper model of an S.55X mounted on a sphere with chromium-plated cube-base 4 3/8th in (11.2 cm) high, overall, defective During the night of 30 June/1st July 1933, under the command of Italo Balbo, the Italian Air Force departed on an ambitious project. With twenty-four and one reser highly trained crews Squadriglias Nos. 01-Aug were tasked with the daunting long-distance navigation flight from Rome to New York and return via Chicago. For the first time in aviation history a complete Storno flying in formation flew to New York to a tumultuous welcome. Despite bad weather and some unservicabilitiy the Storno arrived back at the Rome Lido, via Lisbon, after a total flight of approximately 19000 kms on 12 August. -2
