Silvio Gazzaniga (1921-2016) for Bertoni of Milan Olympic trophy for 1960 Paralympics bronze, in the form of a figure beneath an arch with Olympic rings to the top manufacturer's stamp on marble base 42cm high. This trophy was probably awarded to a Paralympian for outstanding individual performance at the first international Paralympic Games in Rome in 1960. Silvio Gazzaniga was a well renowned sculptor, most notably creating the FIFA World Cup Trophy, which was chosen by the committee in April 1971. His designs also include the UEFA Cup Trophy (1972), the UEFA Super Cup Trophy (1973) and the Baseball World Cup Trophy (2001).

This very good and scarce sales brochure states “Vickers Supermarine Spitfire is the Fastest Military Single-Engined Fighter in Service, June 1939”. The brochure was published in French and English and gives reference to the Spitfire pedigree The Schneider Trophy S4, S5 and S6. Very good clean condition.

Two handsome George II silver horse racing related presentation trophy cups and covers, both inscribed to Foxhunter, the winner of The Newton Hunt, June 16th, 1752 & June 13th, 1753, by William Cripps, both with applied vineous and foliate decoration and oval panels of horse and jockey, the ornate scroll handles with animal head terminals and acanthus leaf capped decoration, on circular foot, embossed with foliage and scrolls, the covers with chased and embossed foliate scroll decoration with acorn finials, London, 1751 & 1752, height both approx. 36.2cm, 86oz & 89oz respectively.The origins of the Old Newton Cup can be traced back to 1752, where the meeting took place at Newton-le-Willows, on the common at Golbourne Heath, (near the current Haydock Park). A CONTINENTAL SINGING BIRD AUTOMATON, 19th CENTURY, the gilt-metal box engraved with bands of laurel and mounted with stylised flowerheads, the top with a hinged musical trophy opening to a multi-coloured turning and tweeting bird over a scroll-cast grille, in its original fitted case with bird-form key and remains of Venetian dealer's paper label.
