An impressive WW1 silver platedy presentation vase to Flight Sergeant Ernest Haxton, Royal Flying Corps. Wreath embossed rim the body tapering slightly into 3 scalloped feet on plain base. Brass bordered copper presentation panel, with applied RFC badge at the top, inscribed `Presented to Flt. /Sergeant Ernest Haxton for his daring action in attacking German airships on the 1st October 1916. From the Officers of the 39th Home Defence Squadron`. Makers mark `Wallace Trophy 338-16` on base. Height 40.5cm diameter of top and base 16.5 cm. Together with Haxton`s `Soldiers Small Book`, showing that he enlisted into the RFC in Dundee in 1913. Also his leather bound Aviators Certificate as a pilot. Issued by the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom on behalf of the Federation Auronautique Internationale- British Empire, dated 15 July 1916 with photo of E Haxton in uniform.
