STAUDENMAYER, LONDON A 40-BORE BUTT-RESERVOIR AIR RIFLE WITH SPARE 40-BORE SMOOTHBORE SHOT BARREL, circa 1825, with 27 1/2in. rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrel signed `STAUDENMAYER. LONDON` in gold towards the breech, case-hardened breech inlaid with a single gold line, 27 1/2in. rebrowned twist two-stage sighted shot barrel, case-hardened breech with gold-lined maker`s stamp `STAUDENMAYER / LONDON` and inlaid with a single gold line, action signed `STAUDENMAYER` with cocking-lever, external mainspring and engraved with foliate borders and a trophy of arms, trigger-guard engraved en suite, leather-covered butt-reservoir (leather replaced), plain iron butt-plate, each barrel with own walnut fore-end with silver fore-end cap and silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, and horn-tipped ramrods (one replaced, iron parts discoloured), in a homemade wooden case with accessories including a stirrup pump (corroded).
HAUSCHKA THE ACTION AND BUTT-RESERVOIR OF AN AIR RIFLE, the action of iron with flintlock-type cocking-lever, external mainspring and trigger, the flats of the action engraved with a scene involving two deer opposite the lock and with a sporting trophy of arms and signed `HAUSCHKA` on the top-flat, leather-covered butt (iron parts with light pitting, leather worn, screw-threads require adjustment).
AN 80-BORE FLINTLOCK BOXLOCK OVER AND UNDER TAP-ACTION OVERCOAT PISTOL SIGNED TROUGHTON, PRESTON, circa 1820, with 2 1/2in. turn-off barrels respectively numbered `4` and `5`, brass action respectively signed `TROUGHTON` and `PRESTON` on a shield within a trophy of arms on each side, engraved sliding thumbpiece safety-catch also locking the steel, and figured flat-sided walnut butt (some discolouration to iron parts), Birmingham proof marks.
A 40-BORE FLINTLOCK TURN-OFF POCKET PISTOL SIGNED PLAYFAIR, ABERDEEN, circa 1820, with 2 3/8in. octagonal sighted barrel engraved with a band of foliage at the muzzle, action signed `PLAYFAIR / ABERDEEN` on the left side of the breech, engraved with scrollwork and a trophy of arms, and with safety-catch, waterproof pan and roller, chequered walnut butt, silver lion-mask pommel, and silver escutcheon (some light corrosion marking throughout), Birmingham proof marks.
McDERMOTT, DUBLIN AN IRISH 11-BORE PERCUSSION OFFICER`S PISTOL, early 19th century, converted from flintlock, with 11 3/4in. swamped rebrowned twist sighted barrel signed `McDERMOTT DUBLIN` and with gold-inlaid line at the breech, tang engraved with border lines, scrollwork and a small trophy and incorporating the rear-sight, border engraved flat lock signed `McDERMOTT`, walnut half-stock with chequered butt, engraved white metal butt-cap, engraved iron spurred trigger-guard with pineapple finial, white metal escutcheon and fore-end cap, later wooden ramrod (some wear to engraving, lock and trigger-guard discoloured).
Derbyshire Fishing Interest - a late Victorian/Edwardian E.P.B.M pedestal ovoid trophy cup, Castle Ward Angling Challenge Cup, Presented by A Ottewell Esq, JP, 1903, finial cast as an angler with his catch, stiff leaf cast fluted angular scroll handles, engraved with scrolling foliage, knopped stem, stepped circular base, 65cm high, c.1900, ebonised plinth Councillor Albert Ottewell JP (1861-1910) was the member of Derby Corporation for Castle Ward - a relatively deprived area near the Railway Station - from 1893 to 1903. Son of Draper Ottewell, he was the nephew and heir of Alderman Sir John Smith, a brass-founder on a national scale, with a works at Derby on Cotton Lane, normally referred to as "Brassy Smiths". On Sir John`s death in 1897, Ottewell succeeded him as proprietor of the Company of which he was then Managing Director. The Fishing trophy was presented as an attempt to help improve the lot of his constituents.

The Association was eventually absorbed by the Pride of Derby Angling Association, itself founded 1892, and incorporated as a limited company in 1937 to raise money to buy the fishing rights on a stretch of the Derwent
