Fine Silver Tennis trophy – 1923 ` The North London Hard Court Lawn Tennis Club Gentleman` s Open Singles Championship" Spring Meeting Silver Trophy engraved with the winners names from 1923 to 1939 (up until the war) silver hallmarked Sheffield 1922 with makers "F&F" stamp mark - overall 7"h x9.25" max – wt 17oz. Note: Winners names include French & Wimbledon Champion Rene Lacoste (twice), Mayes, Spence, Turnbull, A. Gentien, Ritchie, Hare and David. The tournament was annually staged at the Gipsy Lawn Tennis Club grounds in Stamford-Hill (formed in about 1920) where seven hard and twelve grass courts were available
1875 Alfred Shaw – Silver Cricket Trophy. Extremely rare 1875 Silver cricket trophy – presented to Alfred Shaw (Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire & England) for his bowling achievements in 1875. The large chalice shaped trophy hallmarked Birmingham 1875 features engraved bowl which reads "Presented to – ALFRED SHAW – Burton Joyce, Notts – for his unprecedented bowling 1875" and on the opposite side engraved wicket stumps and bails – mounted on the stem comprising a column made of 3x sets of stumps standing on a circular base c/w cricket balls together with cricket bat and ball handles – overall 9.5"h – wt 600gms (19 troy oz). Undoubtedly the trophy was awarded when he achieved his most outstanding bowling figures playing for Notts against v MCC when he returned bowling figures 41.2 overs, 36 maidens and taking seven wickets for only 7 runs. In the previous season playing for the MCC v The North at Lords he captured 10 wickets for only 73 runs. During his career he achieved 100 wickets in a season eight times and 200 wickets in 1878. Note: Alfred Shaw b.1842 – d.1907 was an eminent Victorian cricketer and rugby footballer. He was also joint promoter of four tours to Australia, bowled the first ball in Test cricket and was the first to take five wickets in a Test innings (5/35). He made two trips to North America and captained the English cricket team in four Test matches on the all-professional tour of Australia in 1881/82. He also organized the first British Isles rugby tour to Australasia in 1888. From 1898 to 1905 he umpired in first class matches and he was for many years a partner in the sports goods firm Shaw and Shrewsbury. He subsequently became a publican and died aged 64.

1985 Ryder Cup Victory – Sam Torrance -Winning Putt. 1985 Sam Torrance Ryder Cup match worn golf glove from the singles match at The Belfry – an iconic moment in sport when Sam Torrance sank the winning putt, which deprived the Americans of the trophy for the first time in 28 years - comes with a letter of authenticity from caddie Paul Stevens. Together with various yardage books used by Paul Stevens while caddying for Sam Torrance during 2000 mostly European tour but also includes 82nd PGA Championship at Valhalla c/w Sam Torrance Caddie badge. Note: This made Sam Torrance the second European captain to sink the winning putt and captain a winning team at separate Ryder Cups, after Seve Ballesteros in 1987 (as a player) and 1997 (as captain)
Rare Players Ryder Cup Trophy. Rare Players Ryder Cup Silver Gilt Trophy presented to Philip Walton who made his only Ryder Cup appearance for Europe in 1995 at Oak Hill, where he won on the final green of the crucial penultimate singles match which ensured that Europe regained the Ryder Cup which at that time was only the second time Europe had won in US. The silver gilt Ryder Cup is silver hallmarked London and made by Asprey` s and is decorated with the American and European flags on one side and on the opposite are the engraved words, "The Ryder Cup". Just above the stem are four lion heads. Mounted on a tiered dark stained wooden plinth fitted with gilt band engraved "Philip Walton Ryder Cup Player 1995" overall size of approximately 12" tall. Comes with a written letter of provenance from Philip Walton. Note: Going into the Sunday singles matches, Europe trailed by 2 points, 7 to 9. For the first time, they overcame a deficit entering the singles to win the Cup. The unheralded Irish rookie Philip Walton who had only played in one match with Ian Woosnam secured victory for Europe by defeating Jay Haas by one hole securing the crucial 1 point to win. Note: The Golf Society of Great Britain was founded in 1955 by the late Sir Aynsley Bridgland of Prince` s Golf club. His dream was, in troubled times after the war, there should be generated a spirit of goodwill and international friendship through a common sporting link, namely "The love of Golf". The society is still in existence today and has many trophies which are competed for at the 2 day meetings that are held in different locations around England, Scotland and Wales. Scarce 1974 World Seniors Golf Championship silver winner` s trophy, commemorative Claret Jug and programme – sponsored by Pringle Scotland - the fine Pringle Scottish Silver Thistle trophy hallmarked London 1974 is mounted on a circular wooden base c/w silver hallmarked band engraved "Pringle of Scotland Seniors Championship – E.G. Lester – 1974" together with cut glass claret jug with silver plated pourer, hinged lid and handle engraved with tournaments details – Eric Lester defeated Vicenzo and took the first prize $2000 the runner up $1000 played at Lundin Golf Club Lundin Links Fife. Plus the programme with profiles of both players More remarkably is the fact that Eric Lester who had quit the tournament circuit 11years earlier had only played in one event since the previous Seniors event and defeated the likes of past Open Champions Kel Nagle, Bobby Locke and Max Faulkner. Note: The World Seniors Championship was first staged in 1954 – The Wm Teacher & Son co-sponsored with US PGA The Senior US Championship. In Britain Association of British Golf Writers selected the British professional from the over 50s elite to play the US winner for the World title. Sam Snead defeated Percy Allis in the first event – other notable winners included Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead, Fred Haas, Julios Boros, Kel Nagle, with notable names Max Faulkner, Arthur lees, John Burton, Sam King, Dai Rees representing G.B.

Unusual Victorian Canadian silver trophy in the form of a miniature quoit, engraved - S. Q. C. J. T. Wilde Champion Studley Quoit Club Halifax NS 1883, reverse with English pseudo hallmark - Lion Passant and stamped - J. Cornelius. J. All at approximately 4ozs, 6.5cm diameter. (Cornelius was a silversmith working in Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada in the nineteenth century. Studley Quoit Club opened in 1858 with fourteen members. Over time it became more of a social club used by Royalty and with many of the Halifax City Notables becoming members)
