A German embossed and chased beaker with a portrait of the knight Franz Sickingen amongst fruit and foliage with armorial trophy medallion, 13.5cm high note. Franz von Sickingen (1481-1523)was a notable German Knight. He was born at Ebernburg, rising to the rank of Imperial Chamberlain after securing the election of Charles V. He died in Kaiserslautern.
Four assorted miniature trophies with plinths each with engraving and one with lid the finial depicting a man in a golfing pose. All the tropies are in reasonable condition. The largest has a lid with a golfer on the top. The whole trophy is tarnished, but the lid especially so. The rim of the lid is badly bent, so it does not sit properly on top of the trophy. The trophy is marked '1937, The Barth Cup, A.J. Field'. The stand is in good condition. The hallmark is clear and unrubbed. he second biggest cup is quite badly dented. It is marked 'C.S.C. Snooker Cup Winner 1936'. The stand is scuffed but in reasonably good condition. The hallmark is very rubbed. he two small cups are both a little dented. One of them has broken away from its stand. Both stands are scuffed and scratched, but in reasonable condition. They are engraved 'The Tyson Challenge Cup Won by A.J. Field 1925', and 'K.U.R. Golf Club Rhodes Cup 1945 A.J. Field'. One of them is silver and its hallmark is clear. The other is marked Mappin and Webb plate. All the cups have surface scratches and areas of tarnish.

The Dum Dum Golfing Club Handicap Cup of 1831, an early example of a golfing trophy in the form of a hallmarked silver cup and cover of campana form with grape and vine and other decoration, a plain band on the body inscribed GOLF HANDICAP CUP, GIVEN BY ANDREW WIGHT ESQ. AND PLAYED FOR OVER THE DUM DUM LINKS ON 22ND JAN. 1831, WON BY CAPTAIN CHARLES GRAHAM B.H.A., IN 72 STROKES BEATING ELEVEN COMPETITORS, height 27cm., 10 1/2in., weight 1183gr., 38oz. 0dwt. The Dum Dum Golfing club was formed in 1829 and is the oldest golf course in the world outside of the British Isles, and older than a good deal of historic British clubs. It was later re-named the Calcutta Golf Club, and later still in 1911 the Royal Calcutta, following a visit by King George V and Queen Mary who conferred the title. The original links at Dum Dum are now the location of Calcutta's international airport. The present course is sited at Tollygunge
