1920s American sterling silver two handled lidded trophy, engraved - 1922 International Polo Tournament Presented by Philadelphia Country Club and Bryn Mawr Polo Club Won by Eastcott September 1922, Stephen Sanford, Earl W Hopping, Major F B Hurndall, Major V N Lockett, retailed by Crichton & Co Ltd, New York, 28ozs, 22.5cm high - The New York Times September 29. 1922 `... Eastcott was granted a handicap of three goals by the Meadow Brook combination, but the Anglo-Americans were not forced to call upon their opponents by the margin of a single goal playing on the flat. Meadow Brook defaulted to Eastcott in the final of the Philadelphia tournament because of the tragic death of their fellow member, C C Rumsey. The Eastcott players declined to take the cup offered jointly by the Philadelphia Country Club and the Bryn Mawr Polo Club and also defaulted...Major Lockett`s polo was the best he has displayed since his last appearance here...` Further images and condition reports are available at www.reemandansie.com
A Late 18th/Early 19th Century Flintlock Coaching Carbine by H W Mortimer, London, the 41cm flared steel barrel octagonal at the breech, the top flat engraved with maker`s name and Gunmaker to His Majesty, with signed lock plate, slide safety catch (damaged), rainproof frizzen pan, with hinged top bayonet secured by a catch, the walnut full stock with two brass ramrod pipes, trigger guard engraved with a martial trophy and with acanthus bud finial, with chequered grip, the brass butt plate engraved with a family crest, with wood ramrod.
