An Edwardian mahogany, satinwood, inlaid and decorated display cabinet:, of D shaped outline, crossbanded in tulipwood bordered with boxwood lines, having a moulded dentil cornice and frieze with ribbon tied floral garlands and cameo portraits on grisaille, enclosed by a central lozenge glazed astragal panel door flanked by a glazed panel of bowed outline to either side, the panels below decorated with neo-classical urns, ribbon tied musical trophy and urns of flowers, raised on short square tapered legs, terminating in spade feet, 145cm (4ft 9in) wide, 171.5cm (5ft 7 1/2in) high.
A 19th Century carved giltwood, gesso and cream decorated rectangular overmantel mirror:, of large size with central urn and pierced acanthus scroll cresting and egg and dart cornice of broken outline, the frieze with ribbon tied husk garlands paterae and oval classical cameo portraits centred by a trophy panel with torch, quiver of arrows and garlands, the inset bevelled plate between pilasters with panels of urns and floral foliage, 250cm (8ft 2 1/2in) x 152.5cm (5ft) wide.
A Louis XV/XVI transitional kingwood, marquetry and gilt metal mounted block front commode:, surmounted by a grey variegated marble top with a moulded edge and canted angles, the frieze decorated with roundels and with a central panel of musical and foliate trophy flanked by urns and foliage and to the side panels, containing two long drawers flanked by chevron banded canted angles headed with applied reeded, foliate swag and tasselled ornament, on slight cabriole legs, terminating in sabots, 96cm (3ft 1 3/4in) wide.

Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Nazca 5 Phase, ca. 125 to 250 CE. One of the most outstanding representations of the Masked Mythical Being (Anthropomorphic Mythical Being) finely painted in a wide variety of colors - red, orange, tan, grey, black, and white hues. It is depicted with a characteristic feline head with a headband holding several trophy heads. His mouth mask is shown with lateral elements in the form of cat whiskers which also appear to be stylized trophy heads. He also dons an impressive necklace or chin strap comprised of several miniature trophy heads. While the Nazca did not leave written records explaining this mythical being, several appear to be associated with trophy heads and others with agricultural functions. A well-executed example! Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 250 to 540 CE. A tall polychrome head jar or kero, the lower section painted to represent a trophy head presenting a dramatic visage comprised of stylized black hair, almond-shaped eyes, red circular motifs (perhaps representing rosy cheeks or possibly tears) just beneath the eyes, and a closed mouth flanked by mustachios and a chin beard. He wears a serpent-shaped headband and elaborate ear ornaments. Size: 4.625" in diameter x 5.75" H (11.7 cm x 14.6 cm)But that's not all! The iconographical program of this piece continues on the tall neck of the vase. This cylindrical section above the head is adorned with a wide register of repeated, interlocking trophy head deities or tasters, the tongue of one joining the brow of the next, giving the appearance of a string of bizarre beads. Above this section, just beneath the rim, is a narrower band of step motifs, another hallmark of Nazca iconography. An impressive example of an elegant form with a finely painted polychrome finish in rich red, white, cream, brown, grey, and black hues. Surrounding this is an upper register comprised of abstract, interlocking step motifs and a lower register continuing to the base that features a simple, alternating black and white triangular motif.
