Depicting the occasion of the first aerial flight in Australia which took place at Melbourne on 15th March 1910, for which Houdini was presented the Australian Aero Leagues Trophy. A small inset portrait shows the magician seated in his aircraft. Signed in bold black fountain pen ink across a light area of the image and dated 4th January 1911 in his hand. An important silver two-handled and covered trophy cup, the dome cover with finial, ovoid body on circular spreading foot, engraved to the body, 'Royal Naval & Military Tournament Officer's Jumping Competition, The Kings Cup, Presented by King George V,' won in 1913 by Col. P.A. Kenna V.C., the reverse with the royal coat of arms, Hallmarks, London, 1914, makers Carrington & Co, approximately 1051 grams, 26cm high. Brigadier General Paul Aloysius Kenna was awarded the Victoria Cross during the battle of Omdurman, Sudan on 2nd September 1898.
