A programme for the final of the football tournament at the Paris Olympic Games in 1924, Uruguay v Switzerland played at the Stade Olympique de Colombes 9th June, a combined issue also covering the bronze medal play-off between Sweden and Holland In the pre-World Cup era, the winners of the Olympic gold medal were also considered to be crowned World Champions. The great Uruguay team dominated world football at the period, winning gold in Paris and at Amsterdam in 1928, before lifting the Jules Rimet Trophy on home soil at the inaugural World Cup of 1930.

(71cm) long. Provenance: San Siro Football Museum, Milan. The above is the official club pennant produced by Celtic for the customary exchanging of the pennants by the club captains prior to the 1967 European Cup Final, were Celtic became the first British side to win the famous trophy.
