Liverpool took the lead in the second half when Kenny Dalglish scored from a Graeme Souness pass. A George II silver two handled trophy cup and cover, by Thomas Whipham, London 1751, of slightly tapering form with applied girdle, the body and stepped cover profusely decorated with repoussé foliate garlands and scrolls around two crested cartouches, leaf capped scroll handles and raised on a stepped circular pedestal foot engraved with a monogram, 55.8ozt. 30 x 16 x 16cm (12 x 6 x 6in) Outer rim of the cover slightly misshapen. Inner rim of the cover, fully hallmarked to match the cup, but rather out of shape. Finial leaning slightly as a result of being pushed into the cover. Base of cup very slightly misshapen, as is the cup rim, but generally not in bad condition for its age
