Jager-Balt. No 7”, plated hilt with 2 studs to ribbed wooden grips, in its line panelled black leather scabbard with plated locket with stud, and chape. VGC, a crisp example. Plate 4
A French infantry officer’s sword, c 1850, curved fullered blade 29½”, with maker’s initials S & K (? unclear) in semi circle at forte, etched with small trophy of arms and instruments, with flourishes above and below, on both sides, and retaining a little original blueing and gilding, ornamental brass hilt, the guard with reinforced edges, knucklebow and single sidebar, into slightly forward sloping cap shaped pommel with laurel wreath border, wirebound darkwood grip (slightly AF), in its brass mounted leather (worn, seam split) scabbard with 2 rings. GC (blade reseated and with some dark pitting marks). Plate 9

Group comprising: Trajan COS V with Spes holding flower and raising hem of robe; Trajan COS V with Felicitas, holding caduceus and cornucopia; Trajan COS V with Mars walking right, holding trophy and spear; Hadrian with reverse of Pietas seated left.
