SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1878 The All England Cricket & Football Journal and Athletic Review dated April 1878, no.13 vol.II. Front cover has what could possibly be one of the earliest photographs of Sheff Wed Cup Team. The cup referred to is the Sheffield F.A Challenge Cup with a picture of the magnificent trophy and full page editorial on Wednesday's road to victory from the first round matches to the Final beating Attercliffe by 2 goals to 0 on 2 Mar 1978. This was the second year Wednesday won this Cup. Other football references in this unique item has notes regarding the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden and Wanderers v Royal Engineers Cup Final at The Oval. FINCHLEY TROPHY Small Silver type Cup presented to Eddie Baily, Finchley won the Middlesex Senior Red Cross Cup at Wembley Stadium, 1942-43. Suitably inscribed and comes with base. Finchley defeated Southall 1-0 in the Final. Slight indentation and slightly mis-shapen but overall generally good. Baily was a Tottenham Junior pre-war and returned to Tottenham after the War. WAR CUP FINAL NORTH 1945-MAN UTD Manchester United single sheet programme v Bolton Wanderers, 26/5/45, War Cup Final North second leg at Maine Road. The match ended 2-2 but Bolton won the trophy having defeated United 1-0 in the first leg. Pencil score, changes noted (neat), very slight creasing. Generally good
1969 E.C.W.C Athletic Bilbao v Man City, first leg played 17 Sep 1969 at Estadio San Mames, Bilbao and the second leg in Manchester. Two editions of the daily Spanish football magazine/newspaper "Dicen" each previewing the matches with team line-ups. No programme was produced for the first leg in Bilbao. This was the season City won the trophy. Slight ageing/marks. Generally Good
