A George V silver twin handled equestrian trophy cup on turned walnut plinth by Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd. Engraved for the Messingham Show, given by the society for the best colt or gelding, one year old upwards. Assayed London 1936. Silver 533 grams, 15cm, overall 22.75cm. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Lower handle terminals slightly pressed in. No splits or repairs.

Engraved for the Kenneth Weldon Challenge Trophy, Thorpe Hesley and District Agricultural Society for the best Heavy Horse. First awarded in 1948, 56.5cm high. Condition Report. Weighable silver 272 grams excluding the hip flask cover. Hip flask 13cm. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Hip flask cover loose and with a small dent. No other damage.
AVIATION: Roscoe Turner (1895-1970) American Aviator, three times winner of the Thompson Trophy. Brief T.L.S., Roscoe Turner, one page, 4to, Carter Hotel, Cleveland, Ohio, 23rd August 1938, to Mr. S. Pittman, on Turner's attractive colour printed stationery. Turner states that he is delighted to provide his correspondent with an autograph as requested; Mildred Bruce (1895-1990) Mrs. Victor Bruce. British record-breaking Aviatrix, Racing Motorist and Speedboat Racer of the 1920s and 1930s. Vintage signed postcard photograph of the aviatrix standing in a full length pose, wearing her flying hat and goggles, alongside her aircraft. Signed in blue fountain pen ink to the white border. Together with Hans Stuck (1900-1978) German Motor Racing Driver. Vintage signed postcard photograph (neatly trimmed to the edges), the composite image showing Stuck driving at speed in his racing car around a circuit and standing in a full length pose wearing his racing overalls and holding a small dog in his arms. The tale of Pyarmus and Thisbe appears in Ovid's Metamorphoses, in Chaucer's The Legend of Good Women and the characters are also in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream; the tale is also thought to be the foundation for Romeo and Juliet.
