Plus a striking model of the Cenotaph war memorial, situated in Whitehall, London. Measures approximately 18 cm high. Complete with 6 Colours representing the British Armed Forces. VGC-Mint, minor wear to boxes.
* Amy Johnson - International Tourist Trophy Race Donington Park. An original race-card entry list & lap-score sheet for the event September 3rd 1937, autograph signed in pencil verso inscribed “Amy Johnson”, four-page fold-out format, shows some age-wear. According to the previous owner this was acquired by his father, who had been in attendance at the race, and the Aviatrix, who was herself a keen sporting motorist was spotted in the paddock and gave her autograph upon request to the excited recipient. Organisee par le Comite d’Aviation de la Champagne sous le Patronage de la Commission Aerienne mixte avec le concours de l’Aero-Club de France, 22-29 August [1909], orig. 20 pp. official programme, printed in red and black, orig. pict. printed wrappers, with silk cord, a little soiled, slim 8vo. The programme lists a total of thirty-eight pilots and their machines, including Paul Tissandier, Glenn Curtis, Hubert Latham, Santos Dumont, Louis Breguet, Louis Blériot, Henry Farman et al. The “Grand Semaine de Champagne” was the first international aviation meeting in the world. It was a spectacular affair, financed by the cathedral city of Rheims and the neighbouring Vintners, the 10-square kilometre flying field boasted hangars, grandstands, barber shops, florists, and a sixty-seater terrace restaurant. Prominent aviators from all over the world took part in various contests, including the first contest for the Gordon-Bennett Aviation Trophy, which was won by Glenn Curtiss, beating Blériot by just six seconds!
