Fine album of signed First Day Covers and philatelic items relating to the 2nd edition of the American Cup International Soccer Tournament in 1961,the neatly compiled album commences with an introduction page that has been autographed by the President of the New York International Soccer League William D. Cox; it then continues with a beautiful set of signatures of overall champions Dukla Prague, the page also hinge mounted with Czech football postage stamps, there follows a page with the autographs of the Prague and Everton teams that played in the American Challenge Cup Final, from thence onwards the album contains a team-signed FDC for each competing team and with the sole exception of Karlsrue a photograph of the team, the signed FDCs comprise Dukla Prague (Czechoslovakia), Everton (England), Bangu (Brazil), Kilmarnock (Scotland), Besiktas (Turkey), Karlsrue (West Germany), New York Americans (USA), Dinamo Bucuresti (Romania), Red Star Belgrade (Yugoslavia), A.C. Monaco (Monaco), Shamrock Rovers (Republic of Ireland), Montreal Concordia (Canada), Petah Tikva (Israel), Third Lanark (Scotland), Birmingham City (England), Espanol de Barcelona (Spain), Rapid Vienna (Austria) and Eintract Frankfurt (West Germany), the album concludes with an unsigned United Nations FDC for the tournament In a complicated format Everton and Dukla Prague received trophies for finishing first in the table for Sections 1 & 2 of the competition. Prague then proved the superior team defeating Eveton 2-0 in the League Championship and 7-2 in the American Challenge Cup. There was also a MVP trophy that was awarded to the Bangu (Brazil) player Valter Santos.  This attempt in the USA in the early 1960s to create a Club World Cup was eventually usurped by the UEFA/CONMEBOL Intercontinental Cup which had been launched concurrently.Provenance:Originally from the collection of Ronald Landy Antinoris ('Scot Landy'), the renowned Glasgow collector of autographed football philately.

Eddleston Esq.,gilt stamped cover, containing an example of a player's shirt badge, a passage of printed text and 33 high quality photographs including team-group, club directors, the trophy, aerial view of Wembley, laying of a club wreath at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, community singing, the singing of Abide With Me, crowd scenes, players taking to the field, presentation of players to H.M. The King, captains shaking hands at the centre spot, panoramic views of the match in progress, close-up of the 1st minute goal, 2nd goal as seen from the stand and another from a nearer view, Harry Healless receiving the Cup and medal from the King and other views of the ceremony, parading the cup, scene in the dressing room, and concluding with the triumphant return to Blackburn.  Condition is fair with wear to the exterior of the album, and the interior, there is water damage evident throughout the pages, the spine is damaged with losses.

Condition is good with obvious surface scratches to tankard, there is a dent is the lower side of the handle and it is tarnished.Just three years later Chipp would lose out to Lawford in the rounds at Wimbledon and later become a respected tennis author and administrator.

The strong Swedish team inclede Edberg & Wilander in the singles matches.After retiring from playing tennis professionally, the 1970 US Open winner Nikola Pilić began coaching and became the first captain to win the Davis Cup trophy for three nations: Germany in1 988, 1989 and 1993, Croatia in 2005 and Serbia in 2010. He also runs a tennis academy near Munich. Professional champions such as Stich, Djokovic, Gulbis and Sevastova have developed through the Pilic academy. He tragically died two years later at age 32 in an aircraft accident near Chicago.

Isle of Man Senior TT motor cycling race poster with telegrams, dated Friday 17th June 1938, poster featuring applied Post Office telegrams of the leaders on the second and fifth laps, the handwritten Senior leader board in ink, framed, 70 by 57cm., poster bearing stains, signs of old tears & water marks, wear throughout The first Isle of Man Tourist Trophy race was held on 28th May 1907. It is staged annually on the island's public roads in time-trial format and is renowned as one of the most dangerous motor racing events in the world. In 1938, Britain's Harold Daniell completed a 91mph lap on his Norton - a new record which would stand for 12 years - and won the event from Stanley Woods and Freddie Frith.

Jockey's trophy for the 1919 Grand National won by Ernie Piggott on Poethlynin the form of silver claret jug, hallmarked Elkington & Co, Sheffield, 1913, on ebonised socle base, overall 48 by 20cm., 520gr., heavily embossed with foliage and cherubic figures, hinged lid and inscribed PRESENTED TO E. PIGGOTT BY THE LIVERPOOL EXECUTIVE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS WINNING THE GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE ON MRS HUGH PEEL'S POETHLYN ON MARCH 28th 1919. Substantial dents to rear of jug near the blank cartouche, two dents to front near inscription cartouche, pedestal base shows signs of squashing, hence leading slightly, cover does not close flush to the body, surface scratches, otherwise good condition. Poethlyn was the last of only four horses to carry the maximum weight of 12st. 7lb. to victory in the Grand National. Bred by Major Hugh Peel, owned by his wife and trained at Lewes by Harry Escott, Poethlyn had won the previous year's 'War Substitute' National at Gatwick, again ridden by Lester's grandfather Ernie Piggott, before the race returned to Aintree in 1919 when it was known as the 'Victory National'. The partnership won by eight lengths. Ernie Piggott had previously also won the Grand National in 1912 on Jerry M. Provenance: from the Lester Piggott Collection.

She is reputed to have said after her son's first winner "He is quite a good rider but will never be as good as his father. Don't make a fuss. The trophy presented to Keith Piggott as winning trainer for the 1963 Grand National, in the form of stemmed, twin-handled silver cup, hallmarked Elkington & Co, Birmingham, 1962 on ebonised socle base, overall 34.5 by 36cm across handles, 750gr. and inscribed GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE 1963, PRESENTED BY MESSRS. TOPHAMS LTD, WON BY MR P.B. RAYMOND'S 'AYALA', TRAINED BY K.PIGGOTT. Lester's father, Keith Piggott (1904-1987), trained and co-owned Ayala with fashionable London hairdresser Raymond Bessone, better known as 'Mr Teasy Weasy'. Ayala, the 66-1 winner, was ridden by Pat Buckley and beat Carrickbeg, partnered by Mr. John Lawrence (later Lord Oaksey), in a field of 47 runners.Provenance: From the Lester Piggott Collection.

1910-11 London Charity Cup gold medal awarded to George Shipley of Dulwich Hamlet, quatrefoil shield-shaped medal, with loop ring, obverse with enamelled London crest, inscribed LONDON CHARITY CUP 1910-11, reverse hallmarked 9ct., Vaughtons Birmingham, 3 by 2.5cm., 8gr., in original fitted case with gilt lettering LONDON CHARITY CUP 1910-11 George Shipley played for Dulwich Hamlet against Nunhead FC in the two drawn games of the 1910-11 London Charity Cup Final. It was the first and only time the Final was deemed a draw after two games failed to separate the clubs, and the trophy was subsequently shared.
