British Society of Cinematographers Technical Award plus, The B.S.C. 'Bert Easey' Technical award, a gold coloured trophy of a camera mounted on a wooden plinth, this was awarded to Bill Chitty in 1985 for his design of innovative lighting Equipment over many years (the first time the award was given to a non-camera operative). Bill was an electrician and gaffer on around twenty films from 1964-1974 including African Queen, The Wooden Horse, Anne of the Thousand Day and others. He was also responsible for the television lighting for Churchill's funeral at St Paul's Cathedral and developed 'The Wendy' lighting units still used today. Included is a large amount of detailed information about Bill's life and includes school reports, letters of commendation from various studios, dedicated signed photographs from John Mills, Dana Andrews and others, photographs from the films he worked on including a cricket match and signed 'Bogie', film stills including Jane Russell, a script for 'The Homecoming' and more - (the printed plaque on the award has the incorrect spelling of Easey)

* SCOTT SUTHERLAND DA RSA FRBS (SCOTTISH 1910 - 1984),MOTHER & CHILDwood carving, signed, titled and dated 1982 to base34cm high.Note: Sculptor Scott Sutherland was born at Wick, Caithness. He trained at Gray's School of Art, Edinburgh School of Art and Ecole des Beaux Arts (Paris), and briefly in Egypt, Germany, Greece and Italy. He taught sculpture at Dundee College of Art from 1947. Sutherland's most important work was The Commando Memorial at Achnacarry (about a mile from Spean Bridge). He won an open competition in 1949 to design the memorial which was unveiled by the HM The Queen Mother on 27 September 1952. Other large-scale works include The Black Watch Memorial (1966) at Powrie Brae, Dundee and The Hugh Dowding Memorial (1972) at Moffat, Annandale & Eskdale. Among his other sculptures are: statues of famous Scotsman for the Empire Exhibition in Glasgow 1936; the Coat of Arms (in sandstone) for the entrance to National Library, Edinburgh; a bronze capercaillie for the school at Kenmore; the Robert Burns statue at Arbroath; the carved slate memorial panel to the crew of Broughty Ferry Lifeboat Mona; the silver trophy of the Royal Observer Corps and the Leaping Salmon Fountain for the Norrie Miller Memorial Garden at Perth in Perthshire. Sutherland won the Guthrie award in 1940. Only once in recent years has a wood carving by Scott Sutherland appeared in The Scottish Contemporary Art Auctions and "Diana" a 34cm high signed, titled and dated (1979) example sold for £1,100 (hammer), lot 588 12th September 2021.

AN INDIAN COLONIAL TROPHY CUP AND COVERTWENTYMAN & CO., CALCUTTA CIRCA 1835With a foliate finial to the ogee domed cover, chased with a floral band and a tongue and foliate border, the body half chased with a conforming floral band, twin floral chased loop handles, engraved 'To Captain J. Herring 37th Regiment as a mark of esteem from the undermentioned member of the Mess....' and on a circular moulded spreading pedestal foot34cm (13 1/2in) high1685g (54.15 oz) John Herring arrived in India on the 10th Sept 1805. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant during the Nepal War in 1814 - 1815. His Indian military adventures took him to Afghanistan during the First Afghan War of 1838-42 as a Lieutenant-Colonel in the 37th Regiment of the Bengal Native Infantry. The race ran from 1970 - 1990. The initial prize for winning the race was £10,000, rising to £30,000. The winner was also presented with a trophy, in the form or an ewer and two goblets designed by Jussuf Huessein Abbo. The ewer was handed back each year, but the goblets were retained by the winner.
