WAR CUP FINAL NORTH 1943 Sheffield Wednesday v Blackpool, Football League (War) Cup Final North programme, 8/5/43, scarce programme, we sold another copy earlier this year for £1,500.00 This particular programme is not in as good a condition as the previous copy as it has a horizontal fold, a number of tape marks, is a little creased and has pencil scores, changes etc noted. Condition, we feel, is "Fair" but the programme is complete and could be cleaned up to some extent with judicious use of a good rubber. It should, once again in our opinion, be of acceptable condition for those still requiring it for their collection, four page issue and Blackpool won the trophy by winning this game 02-Jan after a 02-Feb draw at Blackpool. GRAY ANDY: (1955- ) Scottish Footballer. A good, large signed 16 x 20 photograph depicting the Everton footballer in a jubilant half length pose celebrating with his team mates and the FA Cup trophy during a lap of honour following Everton's victory over Watford in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on 19th May 1984. Signed by Gray in bold black fountain pen ink to a clear area at the head of the image, 'My favourite picture! Good Luck, Andy Gray', also adding the date of the occasion, 19th May 1984, in his hand. An excellent signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX Everton beat Watford 2-0 in the FA Cup Final, Gray scoring the second of his teams goals in a memorable fashion in the 51st minute.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR: An excellent, large signed 20 x 16 photograph by seven members of the Tottenham Hotspur football team of 1962 individually, the image depicting the eleven players and manager Bill Nicholson standing and seated together in two rows at the side of a training pitch on 3rd August 1962 during a pre-season photocall. The FA Cup trophy can be seen in the foreground. Signed by Peter Baker, Maurice Norman, Bill Brown, Ron Henry, Terry Medwin, Dave MacKay and Jimmy Greaves individually, each in bold black fountain pen inks with their names alone to the lower white border. A fine signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX Most of the players who signed the present image were members of Tottenham Hotspur's historic Double winning team of 1960-61, winning the league and beating Leicester City 2-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley on 6th May 1961. Greaves joined Spurs in December 1961 shortly after the Double had been achieved, however he did play an important role in the team retaining the FA Cup in 1961-62.
ENGLAND FOOTBALL: A vintage printed small 8vo souvenir programme for the World Championship final for the Jules Rimet trophy, England v. West Germany, at the Empire Stadium, 30th July 1966, individually signed to the inside title page by ten members of the England World Cup winning team comprising Martin Peters, Gordon Banks, Alan Ball, Geoff Hurst, Bobby Charlton, Nobby Stiles, George Cohen, Roger Hunt, Jack Charlton and Ray Wilson. All have signed with their names alone in bold blue inks. Some light age wear and very minor damp staining to the edges of the title page, not affecting the signatures, otherwise an attractive set of signatures. About VG
ENGLAND FOOTBALL: Signed colour 10 x 8 photograph by all thirteen members of the England national squad individually, being the players who represented England in the Guinness International Trophy match against Cameroon at Wembley Stadium on 6th February 1991, comprising John Barnes, David Seaman, Mark Wright, Gary Pallister, Gary Lineker, Des Walker, Steve Hodge, Stuart Pearce, Trevor Steven, Ian Wright, Bryan Robson, Lee Dixon and Paul Gascoigne. The image depicts the players standing and crouching in full length poses in two rows, with their trophy, following the conclusion of the match. Signed by each in bold black inks with their names alone to light areas of the image. EX England beat Cameroon 2-0 in the International friendly match with Gary Lineker scoring both goals. The game also represented Ian Wright's international debut.
EDWARD VII: (1841-1910) King of the United Kingdom 1901-10. A.L.S., Albert Edward, as Prince of Wales, two pages, 8vo, Marlborough House, Pall Mall, 14th December n.y., to Lady Lonsdale. The Prince writes that it would give himself and the Princess great pleasure if his correspondent were to dine with them next Sunday and continues 'I understand that Lonsdale is away yachting but if he should be back we should of course be charmed to see him'. With blank integral leaf. Two extremely small, minor pinholes to the upper edge of the first page, not affecting the text or signature, VG Lady Grace Cecilie Gordon (1854-1941) Lady Lonsdale. Wife of Hugh Lowther (1857-1944) 5th Earl of Lonsdale. English Nobleman and Sportsman who donated the original Lonsdale Belts in 1909 for the boxing championship trophy. The Earl of Lonsdale was, indeed, a keen yachtsman and in 1896 raced Kaiser Wilhelm II's yacht, Meteor, at Cowes Royal Regatta, taking 17 of the 22 prizes. King Edward VII reportedly once remarked of Lonsdale that he was 'almost an Emperor, but not quite a gentleman'.
CARLOS ALBERTO: (1944- ) Brazilian Footballer, Captain of the Brazil national team who won the 1970 World Cup. Signed colour 10 x 8 photograph, the image depicting Carlos Alberto standing on the top of a fire engine with the Jules Rimet trophy as he participates in a victory parade with thousands of Brazilians cheering on the streets. Signed in bold blue ink with his name alone to a clear area of the image. EX Carlos Alberto scored the fourth goal in the World Cup final of 1970 against Italy, sealing his teams 4-1 victory at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on 21st June 1970. The goal is widely considered to be one of the greatest in the history of the tournament.
