Adam Beck, for Jumping over Course by Officers', the reverse with the names of winners including Capt. Mervyn Crawshay, height 20.5cm, approx. weight 8oz. (2) Capt. Mervyn Crawshay (1881-1914) initially served with The Worcester Regiment, moving to the Guards, in August 1914 he went to France with the 5th Dragoon Guards. Being a skilled horseman, he represented the British Army in jumping competitions at Olympia becoming tournament champion. He was killed at Wytschaete in 1914, and subsequently identified as one of several unidentified casualties buried in a joint grave at Cement House Cemetery, Langemarck.
