Napoleonic War Period Cavalry, Yeomanry Officer's Blue & Gilt Sword.A good quality examle, the single edged 29 1/2 inch blade with half length blue & gilt decoration. the engraving depicting Trophy of arms and floral decoration. The hilt with a single steel guard, the leather covered grip with twist wire steel binding. Housed in original black leather and steel mounted scabbard. The mounts fitted with frog button and two loose rings, the latter retaining what appears to be original red leather short slings. Overall GC 95% blue and gilt decoration remains.
Napoleonic War Period 43rd Foot (Monmouthshire) Officer's Sword.An interesting late 18th Century example, the single edged curved blade with engraved decoration of "43" with scroll work. The reverse with trophy of arms and stylised initials possibly "E L X". The hilt with a single bar steel guard, the cross guard of two bars with a diamond between. The grip of dark ebony wood with reeded decoration. Scabbard absent. Blade remains in clean condition, some minor age wear and small chips to the grip.

COCHRAN JACQUELINE: (1906-1980) American Aviatrix. T.L.S., Jacqueline Cochran, one page, 4to, Washington D.C., 31st March 1960, to Ben Kocivar of Look magazine, on the printed stationery of the National Aeronautic Association. Cochran writes to her correspondent to solicit his participation as a member of the committee to select the 1959 winner of the Collier Trophy, awarded to an individual or group 'for the greatest achievement in aviation in America, the value of which has been thoroughly demonstrated by actual use during the preceding year'. Cochran continues to give details of the nomination and voting procedures, as well as the date and venue of the final committee meeting, stating 'Committee members are invited to submit nominations either in the field of aeronautics or in the field of astronautics whether for manned or unmanned flight.' Together with a small selection of signed pieces, cards etc., by various pioneer aviatrix including Jean Batten (2; a signed First Day Cover and a signed 4to menu for a luncheon in honour of Batten, 1937), Clara Adams (signed printed small 8vo illustrated flyer advertising the German Air Mail service to South America), Mildred Bruce etc. FR to generally G, 8

Signed First Day Cover issued to commemorate the World Cup of 1966 and with various colour images including the Jules Rimet trophy and a football. Post marked at Wembley, 1st June 1966. Signed by Moore in blue ink with his name alone to a clear area of the cover. Together with Kenneth Wolstenholme (1920-2002) British Football Commentator, famous for his coverage of the World Cup final of 1966. Signed Commemorative Cover issued for the Millennium and celebrating England's World Cup victory of 1966, featuring an image of the Wembley Stadium towers and with Wolstenholme's famous quotation 'They think it's all over…it is now!', printed across the centre. This is considered the National Match Trophy Model manufactured from 1997 to 2010. Has the full, high polish factory nickel finish, matte finish top of slide, Elliason rear target sight, full rib, wide adjustable target trigger, flat serrated rear mainspring housing, and faux black pearl grips and silver medallion. A most handsome Colt Target Model that appears to be in near new condition inside and out. No drag line. This pistol began life as a standard WWII Remington-Rand contract Model 1911-A1 manufactured in 1945. Right side of frame has all the proper military markings including ordnance wheel. Left side of frame has the F.J.A. (Frank Atwood) inspector mark. Left side of slide is stamped "Remington-Rand Syracuse.N.Y. U.S.A.". It was pulled from inventory, upgraded with high profile target front and rear sights. The barrel was jeweled, the gun was royally finished in blue. Sides of hammer are jeweled. Has the standard Keyes type and brown composite grips. Gun retains nearly all of the original finish and is in near new condition inside and out with a couple of minor rubs. Right side of frame is engraved "Secretary of the Navies Pistol Trophy-1961, won by Mid Shipman, Robert O Hawkins Jr. U.S.N.". It is accompanied by a certificate of title listing gun by serial number to the property of Robert Hawkins having been awarded to him as a prize for marksmanship proficiency in accordance to the Chief of Naval personnel. The award program was established July 21, 1959 and approved by Secretary of Navy September 24, 1959. U.S. Navy Lt. in charge was Charles Tate. Return address of U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego, California. This is the first of its type that we have encountered and is extremely rare Model 1911-A1 with direct Navy provenance. This rifle features blued finish, ramp front sight, two leaf folding rear sight, butter knife bolt handle, full length checkered walnut stock with grip cap and sling swivels, added black rubber recoil pad, and single trigger. Has a Griffin & Howe detachable side mount with hidden screws and a Bushnell 3 x 9 scope. The frame, bolt release, bolt, trigger guard, floorplate and screws are all beautifully factory engraved. Metal retains virtually all of the original high polish blue finish. Wood is near mint with a couple of minor dings. As if this fine rifle was not already enough to pique your interest, according to the article, this rifle was owned by Joe Thomas, noted big game hunter who was featured in the March 1973 issue of the American Rifleman, page 23-25, the mountain lion pictured in this article was shot with this rifle. According to the story Joe has taken nearly every big game trophy in the world. When this story was written, Joe's ten point, 250 lb buck held the New York record. A phenomenal rifle that once belonged to a noted big game hunter. Comes with a box of ammo. The Machine Gun Camera was used to train Japanese aerial gunners. The camera would take snapshots on at a time of run off a reel of 35mm film. The camera would have been mounted and resembles a machine gun with a celestial viewfinder sight, exposure meter, rear viewfinder, filter holder and lens. In addition to training exercises these could be mounted on airplanes or observation balloons and used to track troop movement. Measures 29" long. It is complete in excellent to near mint condition in its original wood carry case. Accessories include the large front sight, four cans of film, small tools, connecting cords, and original Japanese instruction booklet, diagram of parts, original envelopes, etc. At the end of the war this prize capture item was sent to M.H. Smith in Rhode Island to the Pascoag Racetrack. the carry crate has the original Japanese metal label, hand painted on top in the return and shipping address with "War Trophy - Certificate Inside - May be opened for Postal and/or Custom inspection". Total production of these had to be very small, and this is the first complete set sent back as a war trophy that we have ever seen or heard of. This would be a stunning conversation piece in any World War II memorabilia collector, or to a camera collector.
