SILVER TROPHY CUP - HORSE RACING INTEREST a lidded silver cup (not inscribed), weighing 21ozs and marked for London 1922. With a modern wooden base with plaque, The Free Handicap Hurdle, Chepstow, 6th October 1984. With a painted oil on canvas of the Horse in 1983, three photographs etc. Cup 22cms high. *The Horse was called Statesmanship and was ridden by Peter Scudamore.
*Schneider Trophy. An Impressive Art Deco firescreen, commemorating the 1931 win at Cowshot, Hampshire, the glass panel etched 'The Schneider Trophy 1931, Flt. Lt. John. N. Boothman, September 13th 1931, 340.08mph', in a wooden frame, 77cm high x 49.5cm wide Air Chief Marshal Sir John Nelson Boothman, KCB, KBE, DFC, AFC (1901-57), educated at Harrow, joined the Royal Air Force in 1921 and became an instructor at the Central Flying School, he won the Schneider Trophy in 1931 which was in fact the last competition. His WWII and post war service saw him rise to the rank of Air Chief Marshal. Not part of the D'Arcy Greig collection. (1)

*WWII and the Final Years. A collection of paperwork and photographs relating to Brackley's Second World War Service and final years of his life. On the outbreak of WW2, Brackley re-engaged for war duties as Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force, included in the lot are five black and white portrait photographs of Brackley in uniform; various letters relating to WW2 service including a letter from the Private Secretary dated 30.9.1939, advising Brackley of being released from Imperial Airways for War Service; Letter from the Air Ministry detailing Brackleys appointment to Senior Air Staff Officer, HQ, Royal Air Force Transport Command; Letter from the Air Ministry expressing thanks for service during WW2, dated 11.8.1945; RAF identity cards and driving licence After WW2 Brackley joined the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC), and then became Chief Executive of British South American Airways Corporation (BSAA) and achieved a "round the world" flight, crossing the Equator from Auckland, New Zealand via Fiji and Honolulu, the lot includes a black and white photograph of Brackley with Skymaster (BM p608). Newspaper cuttings reporting Brackleys new appointment are included.Other items include a Luncheon invitation given by the British Overseas Airways Corporation to mark the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the first British Air Transport Service at the Dorchester Hotel, London 25.8.1944, with enamelled '25' B.O.A.C. commemorative badge. On 25th August 1947 a signal was received at the Air Ministry from Air H.Q. at Delhi appealing for help from B.O.A.C. and Charter Companies in flying 7000 Pakistan Government servants and their families from Delhi to Karachi, it was known as "Operation Pakistan", the lot includes a booklet titled 'Operation India, a world's record air-lift', black and white photograph of Brackley with refugees loading the aircraft and newspaper cuttings etc. Tragically Brackley lost his life in a swimming accident in Rio de Janeiro on 15th November 1948, his body was flown back to Langham, Norfolk, a photograph of the final passage from London Airport in the York air liner Star Mist is included in the lot (BM p672). A fitting tribute to Brackley was introduced on 17th September 1950, when Frieda Brackley made a speech during the first presentation of the Brackley Trophy for Flying Clubs at Denham. The exquisitely worked Brackley Memorial Trophy was executed in silver by H.J. Brown of Norwich, a black and white image of the trophy is included in the lot. (-)
*Bader (Group Captain Sir Douglas, 1910-1982). A golfing trophy won by Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader, CBE, DSO, DFC, electroplated modelled as a devil smoking a pipe with club over shoulder and bag on floor engraved 'Lucifer Golfing Society', the ebonised plinth with plaque engraved 'Spring Meeting 1956, Winner Group Captain D.R.S. Bader C.B.E., D.S.O., D.F.C.', 16.5cm high Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader (1910-1982), was a WWII Royal Air Force flying ace. Bader was accredited with 22 aerial victories, 4 shared victories, 6 probables, 1 shared probable and 11 enemy aircraft damaged. Bader's Pilot's Flying Log Book for the period 1928-1932 was sold in these rooms in November 2011 (Lot 108) for ú23,500. ^NThe Lucifer Golfing Society was formed in 1921 by Sir Hedley le Bas and friends. It was an exclusive Gentleman's club aimed at promoting friendship and goodwill through golf within the Commonwealth. It took its name the slang Lucifer which for a striking match used in the Great War. (1)
A George V silver trophy cup with two open work handles, inscribed "The Sir Owen Philipps Trophy Chester School's Sports Association" raised on an ebonised socle with silver shields inscribed with "Winners circa 1922-1936" (Birmingham 1919 by Vaughton & Sons) 18.43 oz, together with a George V silver Christening mug inscribed "John Francis Dorman 6th Nov 1928" (Birmingham 1926) 4.49 oz
A JAPANESE SHIN GUNTO SHORTSWORD. A WW11 Shin Gunto mounted Wakasashi with earlier blade, having two Mekugi Ana. A 21" blade with silver Habaki, contained in its leather covered wooden Saya. The original War Trophy Certificate made out to Major Dickens REME 23rd Indian Div SEAC, is with the sword dated 21st November 1946.
Pierce-Arrow. A circa 1907 promotional booklet, 'Defending the Trophy', by T. John Sullivan, effectively describing the success of the Pierce-Arrow winning the Glidden Trophy (400 ounces of sterling silver) for the second year running. A saddle-stitched 46pp book with good photographs of the competing cars, map of the 1906 event, detailed text, predicaments and troubles and a picture of the trophy. Sound condition, the cover with edge bumps, a company rubber stamp on the front free end paper (1)
*Supermarine Schneider Trophy S6 (B) Seaplane model. Nickel-plated on brass, the underwings inscribed Rolls-Royce Motors Ltd. Highly detailed, with well-crafted floats, cockpit, engine banks, propeller, etcetera. The Supermarine Seaplane won the Schneider Trophy outright in 1931 at a speed of 357mph. Designed by R J Mitchell, who later designed the Supermarine Spitfire. This example is not actually a mascot, although similar quality models were sold as such. This is a Rolls-Royce Ltd 'trade gift' to celebrate the use of the Rolls-Royce 12-cylinder 'Merlyn' engine, and is probably rarer than the mascot version. Mounted on a marble display base, in excellent condition.13cm long (1)

A Rare and Impressive silver shooting trophy named to the Skiddaw Grey Rifles. Having figural Victorian solider finial, rifle motif supports and gilded interior held on silver plated base. LONDON 1880- By W & J Barnard Script reads "Finally won by Pritave John Gardiner April 4th 1885" and on the reverse "1881 Presented by the Rev'd H.M Short. M.A (Chaplain) and his family to be shot for by the E company Skiddaw rifles 1st Cumberland Rifle Volunteers.
A late Louis XVI ormolu and white marble mantle clockThe case surmounted with a foliage-filled urn, above the drum case with laurel festooned musical trophy apron below, flanked to each side by a feather finial above black sectional column, the shaped base with a painted portrait roundel of a lady, on stepped foot and a bow-fronted plinth, with toupie feet; the white 4 ½ in. enamel dial with Arabic numerals and pierced moon hands, with twin train fusée movement and anchor escapement, striking on a bell52cm. high overall. 1 pendulum.
