WW2 German Fire Police War Trophy Helmet, black painted fire brigade pattern steel helmet with comb top. Original Fire Police decal to one side and the other side Party decal. The helmet has been captured by an allied soldier and he has painted the names of the places in which he has served in North West Europe, Ostende, Mons, Rheims, Verdun, Bevaux, Ehrang, Malines, Namur, Luxembourg, Mainz, Oppenheim and Nord Inglheim. Complete with the original liner system and damaged chinstrap. The helmet has been coated in a varnish protector which gives it as shine. It was common practice for allied soldiers to decorate captured souvenirs with time lines of places they had served. Often they made spelling mistakes of place names as they were not aware of these places before the war.

Sold with a letter from the Königliches Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin dated 10.10.1902, regarding the vase's history and stating it dates from around 1770 - 1790 CONDITION REPORT Cover knop has been off, re-glued - a few associated losses, slight loss to gilt enamel to very top. Vase is slightly loose on its pedestal - some wear to top of handles but no sign of restoration, otherwise ok
