19th century French three piece mantel clock garniture comprising clock with eight day movement, signed - F. E. with white enamel dial with floral decoration and Arabic numerals and pierced gilt hands, long pendulum with gilt bob, in a gilt metal drum case mounted on marble classical column base with floral gilt metal finials and trophy of arms crest, with matching pair of gilt metal and marble candelabra, key and pendulum present, clock 37.5cm overall height
The 1842 Newmarket Coursing Meeting Cup - William IV silver two-handled lidded trophy cup of campana form, with a central band of grape and vine decoration and an upper band of acorns and oak leaves. Twin scroll handles with leaf supports, on a lobed octagonal pedestal foot with leaf and flower-head decoration. Separate octagonal domed cover with chased foliate decoration and surmounted with a cast model of a greyhound above a dead hare. Body of cup engraved on one side - 'R. Bagge Esq. Newmarket Coursing Meeting November 19th 1842' and on other side - 'Thorn' (London 1842), Joseph Angell & George Angell. All at approximately 94ozs, 45.5cm overall height. N.B. The Newmarket Coursing Club was founded in 1805. See image for the four heats on the day taken from the Coursing Register from the meeting which took place from November 16th to 19th 1842 CONDITION REPORT Overall condition good. Minor surface wear. Scratching and denting commensurate with age. Decoration is good definition, polished on high spots. Underside of foot is slightly distorted. Cover is good. Inner locating rim is distorted. Engraving crisp. Marks clear
