Good 1796 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword Fitted with Unusual Guard Catch, regulation single edge blade etched blued and gilt with crowned GR, royal arms (1801-1817), foliate devices, trophy of arms and ‘JOHN GILL’S WARRANTED’ within banner, fine regulation gilt brass hilt with folding sideguard secured by gilt brass swivel arm to hold the guard in the deployed position, silver wire bound grip. Blade 81cms, overall 97cms. Good condition, hilt retains virtually all its original gilding, blade retains much original blued and gilt decoration. John Gill (worked 1803-1817) ran the Birmingham operations for the family concern which was based in London. For a good account of the Gill’s business see L. Southwick “London Silver Hilted Swords”, Royal Armouries 2001 pp 116-118.

Together with its gilt wooden label inscribed ‘Sword presented to General Mirrlees by the officers and men of the Artillery in India’. Blade 80cms, overall 93cms. Preserved in fine condition, a few small patches of staining to gilding. Major-General William Henry Buchanan Mirrlees (1892–1964), R.A. ^ Georgian Naval Officers Sword, straight single edge blade etched with crowned GR, Britannia, 1801-1816 royal arms, military trophy, and along back edge ‘OSBORN & GUNBYS Warranted’, copper gilt stirrup hilt, front langet engraved with fouled anchor within laurel wreath, and on the rear langet an anchor within shield beneath a trident head and with laurel and fronds, lion head pommel, wire bound ivory grip. Blade 82cms, overall 95.5cms. Basically good condition, quillon slightly bent and cracked, some patches of moderate to heavy pitting to blade, retains traces of blued and gilt decoration.

Frank McLintock and Bob McNab autographed high quality 16x12 photograph signed by Arsenal legends Frank McLintock and Bob McNab. Francis Frank McLintock MBE (born 28 December 1939) is a former Scotland international footballer and football manager. He also worked as a sports agent and football pundit in his later life. He began his career in Scottish Junior football with Shawfield, before earning a professional contract with English First Division club Leicester City in December 1956. He played in two FA Cup final defeats before he was sold to Arsenal for £80, 000 in October 1964. He had a poor start to his career at Arsenal, though he did feature in two League Cup final defeats, but he found success at the club after being switched from right-half to centre-half in 1969. Appointed as captain he led the club to their first European trophy, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1970. The following season, 1970-71, he captained Arsenal to the Double, as they won the league and the FA Cup. He was sold to Queens Park Rangers in June 1973 for a fee of £25, 000, and helped the club to finish as First Division runners-up in 1975-76 before he announced his retirement in May 1977. He scored a total of 66 goals in 766 league and cup games in a 20-year professional career and won nine caps for Scotland in an eight-year international career. Robert McNab (born 20 July 1943) is an English former footballer who played as a defender. McNab featured for clubs Huddersfield Town, Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers, San Antonio Thunder, Barnet, Vancouver Whitecaps and Tacoma Stars in his playing career. John Arne Semundseth Riise (born 24 September 1980) is a retired Norwegian professional footballer who last played as a left-back and a left midfielder for Indian Super League club Chennaiyin on a two-month contract. With 110 caps, he is the most capped player for the Norway national team. He was named in the Norway squad for UEFA Euro 2000 but did not play in the tournament.
