Official 12-page Itinerary, 16-page brochure produced after the tour with pictures and 10" x 8" photograph of full touring party with trophy. Good

BRAZIL SHIRT 1984 Yellow Brazil shirt worn by Brazil number 8 Zenon in game v England , June 1984 in Rio which England won 2-0 with the aid of the John Barnes wonder goal. Kenny Sansom of England exchanged his shirt for this one after the game and has signed a note of authenticity. The Brazil badge has the World Cup trophy embroidered upon it with three stars above it to denote winning the trophy three times. Good

Little, 58th Regiment, 2: J.A Fredericks, 3: H.C Metcalfe, 58th Regiment, Stroke: Major W.J. Ellis, 58th Regiment, Cox: W. Wallace', on a simulated bamboo stem, on raised circular foot with foliate decoration on a matted background, height 19.7cm, approx. weight 9.4oz. Of the five names on the trophy for a coxed four, H C Metcalfe of the 58th Regiment stands out in the sporting history of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Football Club, one of the leading sporting clubs in Asia was founded in 1886 and is the home, today, of the Hong Kong Sevens. Metcalfe was one of the founding members and on the first elected committee, playing in the second rugby match in February 1886

An Imperial German Artillery officer’s sword, of the 4th Magdeburg Field Artillery, plated blade 32” etched with scrolls and trophy of arms, and with blued panels, on one side with crown over “FR” and Field Artill Regt Prinz Regent Luitport v Bayern (Maddeburgisches) No 4”, on the other side a horse drawn field gun and limber, the plain steel stirrup hilt with wire bound fishskin covered grip, in its steel scabbard. Basically GC (small patches of flaking and rust to blade, the hilt painted gold and the scabbard painted black over rust).

A 20 bore flintlock holster pistol in the style of c 1760, 3 stage barrel 9”, with London proofs and engraved “London”, the military lock engraved with crowned “GR” and “Tower”, walnut fullstock with engraved brass mounts including long spurred buttcap, trigger guard with acorn finial, openwork trophy of flags sideplate, and shaped escutcheon. Good Working Order and Condition (some pitting around touch hole). Appears to have been assembled at an early date, in the early 19th century, from earlier components. Plate 18

A Geo light company officer’s sword, c 1800, with unusually long shallow fullered, curved blade, 32½”, by “Thos Wilcos. Warranted” (Hill St B’ham, 1777-1808) lightly etched with crowned GR cypher, crowned R Arms and supporters, standing officer with sword, trophy, with scrolling and foliage, gilt hilt, the guard slotted with 3 loops each side, into pierced crowned GR cypher and knucklebow, to lion’s head pommel and backstrap, diced pronounced ivory grip (cracked) in its leather scabbard with brass locket and (replaced) chape. Basically GC, retaining approx 20% original gilt (blade some wear and light pitting, scabbard leather AF). Plate 5

A 1796 pattern light cavalry officer’s sword, curved, shallow fullered blade 32½”, by “Woolley, Sargant & Crane’s. Warranted” (the style of the firm 1818-1820) etched with crowned R Arms, crowned GR cypher, mounted trooper, trophy of arms and florets, steel hilt with langets, pronounced knucklebow, backstrap with ears, wirebound leather grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. GC, a clean example the blade retaining traces of gilding (minor scabbard dents). Plate 5

The dial and front panel painted with celestial cherubs in turquoise blue borders enriched with gilding, flanked by panels of floral garlands. The elaborate case surmounted by a laural wreath encircling a love trophy, with crested acanthus leaves and cascades of fruit and flowers spilling from reeded stems either side, 18½ ins (47 cms) in height.
