A GERMAN SILVER 140 BORE PERCUSSION BOX LOCK TURN-OVER PISTOL the rifled barrels engraved around the muzzles, the lock signed Merry and with musical trophy and foliate scrolls, sliding safety, chequered walnut stock with butt cap, 17.5cm l, c1830 ++Poor condition apparent from the image but basically complete but note the steel parts, ie hammer, safety cap and nipple heavily corroded with rust, the stock slightly chipped on one side. The bullet cap stuck fast and also rusted, entirely unretored
A pair of Louis XVI tulipwood, marquetry and gilt metal mounted corner cabinets stamped L.FOUREAU JME, circa 1780, grey veined white marble tops, each door centred by a musical trophy within an oval reserve, cornered by floral branches, square section tapering feet, 92cm high, 77cm wide, 49cm deep Louis Foureau was made master in 1755. In the third quarter of the 18th century Louis Foureau established his workshop in rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis where he was famous for furniture lacquer decorated in the gout de la Chine.

A large Collection of photographic negatives covering Motor Sport through the mid 20th Century 1930s-1980s,a large and varied compilation of original negatives and contact prints including work by several respected photographer`s and motor-sport journalists and historians such as James Brymer, Gordon Wilkins, Jim Barron, Eoin Young and the late Bunny Tubs inter alia. * WWII and the Final Years. A collection of paperwork and photographs relating to Brackley`s Second World War Service and final years of his life. On the outbreak of WW2, Brackley re-engaged for war duties as Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force,included in the lot are five black and white portrait photographs of Brackley in uniform; various letters relating to WW2 service including a letter from the Private Secretary dated 30.9.1939, advising Brackley of being released from Imperial Airways for War Service; Letter from the Air Ministry detailing Brackleys appointment to Senior Air Staff Officer, HQ, Royal Air Force Transport Command; Letter from the Air Ministry expressing thanks for service during WW2, dated 11.8.1945; RAF identity cards and driving licence After WW2 Brackley joined the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC), and then became Chief Executive of British South American Airways Corporation (BSAA) and achieved a ñround the worldî flight, crossing the Equator from Auckland, New Zealand via Fiji and Honolulu, the lot includes a black and white photograph of Brackley with Skymaster (BM p608). Newspaper cuttings reporting Brackleys new appointment are included.Other items include a Luncheon invitation given by the British Overseas Airways Corporation to mark the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the first British Air Transport Service at the Dorchester Hotel, London 25.8.1944, with enamelled `25` B.O.A.C. commemorative badge. On 25th August 1947 a signal was received at the Air Ministry from Air H.Q. at Delhi appealing for help from B.O.A.C. and Charter Companies in flying 7000 Pakistan Government servants and their families from Delhi to Karachi, it was known as ñOperation Pakistanî, the lot includes a booklet titled `Operation India, a world`s record air-lift`, black and white photograph of Brackley with refugees loading the aircraft and newspaper cuttings etc. Tragically Brackley lost his life in a swimming accident in Rio de Janeiro on 15th November 1948, his body was flown back to Langham, Norfolk, a photograph of the final passage from London Airport in the York air liner Star Mist is included in the lot (BM p672). A fitting tribute to Brackley was introduced on 17th September 1950, when Frieda Brackley made a speech during the first presentation of the Brackley Trophy for Flying Clubs at Denham. The exquisitely worked Brackley Memorial Trophy was executed in silver by H.J. Brown of Norwich, a black and white image of the trophy is included in the lot. (-)

Animportant archive of photographs, documents and ephemera relating to the life and career ofthis famous Italian test pilot and Schneider Trophy contestant, comprising twenty-eightb & w private, press and manufacturers` photographs, including a fineofficialpublicityimageshowingAgellostandingwiththe winning Macchi-CastoldiMC72seaplane,boldlysignedand inscribed in blue ink to CapitanoFilippoMasoeroanddated 30-10-34, other images include Agello`s family home in Casalpusterlengo, Lombardy, crossing the finishing line, flight celebrationsandreceiving a medal from Mussolini, the archive also includes twoprintedmenus,onefullysignedinink by Agello and approx. twenty others,acongratulatory telegram, related magazines and news cuttings, four glassplatenegatives of a Macchi-Castoldi seaplane and a fine original col. litho.CastrolOilposter,framedand glazed Agello set a new water speed recordof683km/h(424mph)in the MC72 on 10 April 1933 over Lake Garda, NorthernItaly.The following year, at the same location, he again set a new record of 709 km/h (440 mph) on 23 October 1934. This remains (as of 2006) the fastestspeedeverattained by a piston-engine seaplane. Agello was awarded theDe la Vaulx Medal twice. He died during World War II in an aircraft crash while testing a new Italian fighter at Bresso, near Milan. (1)
