Brass border. Lined with black cloth and provided with three hooks at the back. Missing chain. Very scarce. dimensions 14 x 13 cm.

Iron hilt with silver-inlaid covering, engraved with geometrical motifs, ivory ear-shaped grip scales, ivory closing-button sculpted with a small, green stone at the center. Wooden scabbard, completely covered with a yatagan-style silver inlay, richly embossed with birds, trophies, snakes, pots and floral motifs, cap with six twisted rings, the chape shaped as a monster's head with scales. Small suspension rings. length 34.5 cm.

dating: first quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Naples, Very fine, straight, slightly-curved, single-and-false-edged blade, the base featuring a triple groove combining at the back, pierced with geometrical motifs, engraved and gilded on blue background with Diana, trophies and floral motifs, marked 'VIVA FERDINANDO IV...' (the remaining part not clearly legible) at the back. Beautiful, steel hilt finely carved on a gilded background, shell-guard with royal monogram 'FR' under crown with cartouche and flowers, 'S'-shaped quillons decorated with floral motifs in bas-relief. Magnificent ivory grip, majestically carved in the round in the style of Hans Peter Oeri with bear, wild boar and a deer twisted with bloodhunds. Wooden scabbard with dark-green, leather covering (small damages at the border) featuring steel mounts and cap carved and engraved with deer in cartouche on a gilded background, also provided with a carved and gilded hook, decorated with a trophy on gilded background at the back. Chape decorated with floral motifs, partially gilded on both sides. Probably made by Frantz Bourgeois, Real Manifattura of Naples. This beautiful hunting hanger belonged to King Ferdinando IV of Naples, it probably was a gift for his crowning. The king really appreciated those richly carved amrs, and a fine example is a pair of important flintlock pistols given to the young king around 1768 and kept at the Metropolitan Museum in New York with inventory number 26.259.5.6. length 78 cm.

A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH OFFICER'S SWORD, 77cm triangular section incurved blade decorated with scrolling foliage, laurel wreaths and stands of arms, all highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, regulation gilt hilt, the down turned guard decorated with a lion dormant on a shield upon a bed of arms, ornate knuckle guard and mounts decorated in the classical manner, reeded mother-o'pearl grips, contained in its gilt mounted leather scabbard by Salter, decorated naval motifs. Salter is known to have mounted trophy blades and prepared scabbards for trophy swords, this one in two parts and with chape lacking.

Marti eight day countwheel movement, height 14.5in. with a pair of matching five light candelabra, height 16.5in.CONDITION: Overall looks to be in honest untouched condition, a little dusty with a slightly matted finish to the ormolu, some scattered dirt spots mainly to the upwards facing surfaces, porcelain all looks good with original gilding intact, slight rubbing beneath the naming on the dial, movement intact, comes with pendulum and old key but not tested for timekeeping, candelabra may once have had sconces and are slightly wobbly at the joints but otherwise look good.
