[Motor racing interest] A silver Brooklands BARC tankard by Charles Boyton & Son, London 1931, with a recumbent lion finial, a domed cover, a scroll handle and a moulded skirt base, engraved `BARC Brooklands 17th October 1931 The Ladies` Handicap Won by Mr. A. W. Fox`, 20.5cm (8in) high, 1241g (39.9 oz) Provenance: Arthur Wingrave Fox, manager of the Talbot racing team, and thence by descent to the present vendor. Arthur Fox of the Tolworth-based dealer and race preparation specialist Fox & Nicholl persuaded Clement Talbot Ltd to build and maintain three specially modified four-seater touring cars based on the company`s recently unveiled `75` model. In return, Fox promised to source a team of drivers and pay all entry fees as well as taking responsibility for pre-race testing etc. After an ignominious start, the resultant trio of works Talbot `90` cars proceeded to dominate the 3 Litre class at such prestigious events as the Le Mans 24-hour race, Irish Grand Prix, Tourist Trophy and Brooklands `500`. A single-seater version set a host of International Class and British Records including covering 500km at an average speed of 105.62mph. The spectacular success enjoyed by the `90` cars was all the more remarkable given that their engines displaced just 2276cc. See also lot 475.

Worcester` and `Won Outright and re-presented by F. P. Norbury Nov. 1929`. The socle with applied shields (only one hallmarked) with corresponding winners for 1926-37.

(90cm.) high, 16¼in. (41cm.) wide.

Turkish Order of the Osmanieh - A Seven Pointed Green Translucent Enamelled Star, each point ornamented with a ball and between each arm, a three pointed device, mounted to the centre of the obverse, within a circlet of green enamel a gilt cresent on a crimson ground bearing a Turkish inscription, the reverse bears a trophy of flags and drums, star and cresent shaped suspender now removed and replaced with watch chain. Founded in 1861 by Sultan Abdul Aziz and often conferred on British Officers for various campaigns in the Sudan.
