EDWARD ROBERT SMYTHE (1810-1899) FIGURES AND BOATS ON YARMOUTH BEACH, THE JETTY BEYOND Pastel 36cm x 58cm (14in x 22.75in) E.R. Smythe is following in the steps of John Crome, who loved to paint this scene earlier in the 19th century. Sir Terry Frost RA (1915-2003) 'Untitled', watercolour and pastel drawing, signed inscribed and dated' 57 on back board 38cm x 25cm. Though born in Warwickshire and living in Leeds and Newcastle for many years Terry Frost is particularly associated with the Cornish School. He is regarded as one of Britains most important 20th century artists. His distinctive abstract works of vibrant primary colours are included in collections throughout the world. A major retrospective exhibition incorporating sixty years of work was held at The Royal Academy in 2000.
