Bernard Sickert (1862/63-1932) - River scene with shipping, a crane and factories nearby, possibly a scene on The Thames, pencil, charcoal and pastel on tinted paper, 11" x 15.5" ** The work has a black and white study of buildings and an archway on the reverse, possibly a fixed charcoal drawing or black and white reproduction Bernard Sickert was, like Walter, born in Munich and was the younger brother of Walter Richard Sickert, the sons of the artist Oswald Adelbert Sickert. The family moved to England in 1868 and his work was influenced by his father and by Whistler. He wrote a biography on Whistler in 1908 and became a member of The England Art Club, as well as the Allied Artist Association. He was, together with his older brother Walter, one of the group of ten who exhibited together as 'The London Impressionist' at The Goupil Gallery in 1889
