Julio Gonzalez (Spanish, 1876-1942). "Femme lésée". Pastel, crayon, and pen and ink on paper. 1941. Signed and dated lower left. Drawn on blue-grey wove paper. Fine condition. Overall size: 7 3/4 x 6 in. (197 x 152 mm). A very comparable work to our drawing, “Légère et aérienne,” sold for $21,600 (€14,375) at Christie’s Paris, December 1, 2009, lot #8. Our example is quite possibly from a sketchbook of the artist. Julio González i Pellicer was a Spanish sculptor and painter who developed the expressive use of iron as a medium for modern sculpture. The present drawing being offered in our auction is no longer under copyright and the image is in the public domain. [29905-1-6000]
Joan Mitchell (American, 1926 - 1992). "Untitled". Oil pastel and watercolor drawing on paper. c1960. Signed lower right. Light cream wove paper. Very good to fine condition. Overall size: 8 1/4 x 11 5/8 in. (210 x 295 mm). Image size: 7 7/8 x 10 7/8 in. (200 x 276 mm). Mitchell was a "second generation" abstract expressionist painter and printmaker. A most unusual fired clay Vase, the body formed by a horizontal egg shaped structure with a narrow folded neck and foot and having applied banded and swirl decoration in pastel colours including ochre, peach, cream, 10 5/8'' tall x 11 3/4'' max width, 8 1/4'' min width (chip to rim of neck)
Late-Georgian keepsake box (possibly for a Valentine) constructed from card and pink paper, oblong octagonal form with drawer, mirrored top featuring inset hand-coloured etching depicting lady with two children and dog ('La Petite Jalouse'), applied embossed paper borders, lined with lilac and pastel pink paper. The box contains a quantity of fans, 19th century and later, including a mechanical greetings card in the form of a fan, 'The Language of Flowers - Happy New Year'
A 1950's retro vintage floor standing / standard lamp comprising of three shaped brass arm supports bound together to the centre, each arm having bulb a holder to top and being staggered at graduating heights, all raised on a round base. Shades each being of conical form with pastel lace covers. Measures; 156cm. Pictures may show lights on and have all light bulbs present however some light bulbs may not be included and all lights are sold as untested.

Bernard Myers (1925-2007) - Still life of blue vase, playing cards, pears and a plate, signed, oil pastel, 20.75" x 28.5" - *The artist was a teacher of design at The Royal College of Art and one of his first pupils in 1966 was the inventor James Dyson. In his long career as a tutor, senior tutor and professor at The RCA between 1961-1980 Myers taught in most of the schools of the college, especially in industrial design engineering - which he taught simultaneously to civil engineering at Imperial College next door - interior design, film and television design (which he helped to set up) and general studies. The artist's fellow students at The Royal College of Art were John Bratby, Jack Smith, Frank Auerbeh and Leon Kossoff. *** Phelps, Portrait of a gentleman, possibly George Vaughan Hart (1799-1828), Curate of Castlebar, head and shoulders, in black jacket and white stock, signed and dated "Phelps pinxit 1822" right of the sitter, pastel, 62 x 50 cm. By descent within the family of the sitter at Glenalla House, County Donegal, Ireland. The sitter could also possibly bte The Very Rev. John Hume, Dean of Derry (1743-1818). Frame has chips and there is a small damage to the right of the sitter's chin. Phelps 1822 on the reverse.
