Frank Fidler (British, 1910-1995) Barn at Barkway, Hertfordshire signed lower right "Frank Fidler" pastel 40 x 51cm (16 x 20in) Frank Fidler decided to become an artist zt school in the early 1920s but recveived no encouragement from his family. Inevitably upon leaving school he followed in his father's footsteps and became a nurseryman in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. In the 1930s Frank opened a greengrocer's shop in Waltham Cross and continued to sell fruit and vegetables from this and a further shop until 1954, when he started to paint. Condition appears fine - modern frame needs replacing.
