A patchwork quilt, 19th century, the triangular sections worked mainly in shades of blue, the backing with a design of butterflies on a pale blue ground, approx 203x191cm, together with a further patchwork quilt, 19th century in pastel colours with later 1930`s fabric additions, approx 200x150cm. MARY G*** (20TH CENTURY) "Study of a Peacock perched upon a branch with another Peacock on the ground", pastel on canvas, indistinctly signed and dated 1903 bottom right, 153 cm x 50 cm, and a companion study, a pair (2) CONDITION REPORTS Colours appear strong, some rubbing towards the edges of the pictures where they under the frames, but otherwise overall appear sound. Both in modern frames with some knocks and bumps to edges, one frame has a small chip approx. 1 cm x 1 cm half way up the right-hand side.

See illustrationProvenance: The Countess of Darnley.Purchased in the 1930`s possibly from the Le Fevre Gallery.Thence by descent.The black and white pastel image is clear on the brown paper which shows no signs of damage or restoration. The signature and inscription in ink is crisp and clearly legible. Please note this condition report has been prepared with the image under a mount and behind glass.
